You probably want to check out the Conference Realignment Board. No other major conference at this time wants us.

I think the title of this thread is backward. It should read, "Big East has left UConn."

BC, Syracuse, Va Tech, Miami, Pitt, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Louisville, St. John's, Villanova, Providence, Marquette, DePaul, Georgetown, and Seton Hall -- all have either left or decided to do so.

They left UConn, Cincinnati and South Florida behind, to be joined by a mish-mash (pronounce that mish-mosh) of wannabes, johnny-come-latelys, and imposters who are so desperate to belong to something that they chose to collectively mourn the cadaver called the Big (which it was) East (which it ain't).

Well, sure. Me, too. But I'm not sure begging will work much, either. Certainly when it all was not on the line, a week or two ago, they couldn't sell UConn to the ACC over Louisville. Now the situation is different -- it's worse and UConn is more desperate.

I think this is an issue with Uconn in terms of the B1G - I think they have a 'minimum size requirement' for football stadiums - can't remember where I saw that but I think it was during the first round of expansions a few years ago.

The bummer with the current situation is that the Big East would probably have been much more appealing to all the football schools that left over the years if this Basketball split had happened 5+ years ago - the tension that existed between the FBS/non-FBS and the different agendas has been pulling the conference apart for the last decade.

I know tomcat, we're both frustrated (along with most all of UConn nation - - we fans were so excited about this season, but all these conference issues are being a real drain on our ability to enjoy our team and a vision of the future). I'm just feeling like people (Herbst/Manuel) at their pay grade and with their responsibility ought to be coming up with something innovative and helpful to make something work, but the signals from them don't inspire confidence from at least this fan. I have doubts about the quality of the case they made in their "sell." It just feels (based on the H/M public comments) like UConn has been passive and reactive and without much creativity , although I know I wasn't in the meetings.

I think the problem is that Football is driving this train and unfortunate Uconn is new to the FBS and so the 'product' they have to sell is seocnd rate compared to the other competition. Beyond fb Ucoon has a great product, but no one is looking at that.

Not sure I feel up to this discussion after the horrible tragedy in Newtown. I'm still numb.

I've said before:

1-begging is a bad idea.

2- disrespecting new BE members - bad idea.

3-uconn must look to rebuilding BE, leading it, for the foreseeable future. The goal in remaking the BE is that uconn won't need or want to leave.

4-in so doing (item#3) uconn will get invitations to go elsewhere that it could then accept or reject on its own terms.

5-stay calm, everyone. Uconn can do alright in the BE, and, in any event, that is where it looks like we're going to be (no pun...)
