Bracketology
At this point it still looks like UConn has to win to go to the Dance.
So lets talk about the bracket. Assuming UConn wins on Saturday, where will they end up? Playing Minnesota Duluth at Ohio State (Columbus, OH). But let's step back. How did I figure that out?
The winners of the CHA (PA State) and the NEWHA (almost certainly LIU) will displace two schools who are higher than them in the Pairwise. Not UConn because they will be conference champs (we got our fingers crossed). The displaced schools will be QU and St, Cloud State. So Cornell will be 6, SLU 7, MN Duluth 8, UConn 9, PA State 10, LIU 11. The rest of the seeding you can get from the USCHO Pairwise list although Clarkson and Colgate are still battling for 3rd.
So, for the first round, 6 Cornell plays 11 LIU in Hamilton or Potsdam, NY, and plays 3 Clarkson or Colgate in the quarters. 7 SLU plays 10 PA State in Madison Wi, the winner playing 2 WI in the quarters. And 8 MND plays 9 UConn in Columbus, the winner playing 1 OH State. Also 4 Clarkson or Colgate plays 5 MN in Potsdam or Hamilton, NY. (I have made a couple assumptions about the ECAC tournament to get to this prediction.)
The Women's Frozen Four is in Durham, NH, University of New Hampshire the host.
If they are lucky enough to win on Saturday, this will be a fantastic experience for the UConn Women.
