END 4; No. 21 UCSB 2, #UConn 1
Cate limits the damage and the Husky offense will look to counter with LeFevre-Hill-Sundberg. #BleedBlue

Hill pinch hit for by Buckley who will go to third and Yahn to second.

Chris Jones speculating on WHUS that Aaron Hill might end up getting the day off tomorrow. Considering his non productive bat so far, his total value is with his defense, and that part of his game certainly wasn't sharp today.

Wow! Melley homers against Santa Barbara's Nelson, who has been terrific reliever prior to this series against UConn. Together with Gnesda's homer last night, that is two Husky homers against Nelson in two games.

Cate allows a hit to lead off the 7th, Devin Over in to pitch.

RBI single by Buckley in the top of the 8th gives UConn a 6-5 lead.

Chris Jones reporting that Polonia not available to pitch today, so look for Ruotolo in the 9th, or perhaps a bit earlier.

bullpen imploding. Not sure why Darras even pitches? He's a walk, wild pitch or a hit batter every time he pitches. He has allowed all inherited runners to score this year.

No relievers got it done today, and the fielding has not helped at all today. 9-6 after 8 innings.

They are a Top 25 team for a reason but we coulda, shoulda...

Ugly loss....hopefully they shake it off quick. Gonna be hard to avoid the sweep unless pitching can give us better performances than that

Hoping and wishing for an offensive explosion so that the bullpen doesn't have to be relied on.

Aaron Hill out of the lineup today and Connor Buckley in. Also, Toppa in for Stefanski.

1-0 UConn after the top of the 2nd. RBI ground out by Buckley drives in Daniello.

Two run homer by Santa Barbara off of Rossomando in the bottom of the 2nd. 2-1 Gauchos.

Early 4th inning exit for Rossomando, leaving with the bases loaded and UConn down 3-1. John Russell comes into pitch.

Well, at least Dandeneau and Rajkowski have held the Gauchos hitless in their relief stints. Still, the Huskies trail 6-2 in the top of the 8th.
