I dont think UConn is going to find a better Coach then Penders. I think they would be better off giving him a lot more NIL support. This is embarassing, a team coming off years on the verge of the CWS is in the middle of the pack in the Big East

Bingo. Is the Elliot family putting up some cash? What about Springer? The school?

If the answer is no to the above than it doesn’t matter who is the coach.

Mike Burton was the reason for the football turnaround. Even more so than Jim Mora.
 
They will make the BE tournament regardless of what happens this weekend with the 9 games they have left. The defense is so bad that winning tightly played double elimination tournament baseball is not likely.

There is plenty of NIL going into the program in comparison to other BE schools - $200+K. The idea that a better coaching staff is out there is laughable. This current team no doubt stinks. Clearly the puzzle pieces are not fitting and JP and staff will wear that.
 
Some of these issues are on them to explain however. Go back to my earlier post of why so many guys playing out of position. Also, the amount of outs we make on the basepaths is alarming. How about pulling back the aggressiveness. Jemison got thrown out by a mile and the catcher basically rolled it down to 2nd. Lefty batter up, running being held on, big hole, how about taking a shot at the hole or hit and run. It's like these guys just have green light to do whatever they want and they aren't making smart decisions.

I agree - it is a mess.

Minick in the outfield - bad outcome, also hurt to some degree.
Rispoli not playing up to par
No 3b to speak of, Dalena not hitting either
Finn not a factor
Generally weak up the middle, catching now an issue.
Transfers are meh with the bat aside from Marshall. If they hit, glove is suspect.
Baserunning is a shambles
Reliable SP the only plus.
In general, a lot of our guys play like they are new to the game. So odd to see on a UConn team.

I’m not ready to give up on these guys yet, but they are sure causing me a lot of pain. I keep waiting for that 10 game win streak.

Had to figure that the catching situation would eventually rear its ugly head.
 
Bottom 2nd, after Wachter leads off with a single and Dalena follows with a walk, Rispoli drives in a run with a 2 out single that puts runners on the corners. 1-0 UConn.

A run scores on a balk and a Rispoli moves up to 2B. 2-0 UConn.
 
Top 3rd, after 2 singles followed by a bunt single that loads the bases with no outs, Pudvar ends up having a scoreless inning, a line out double play removes the runner at 2B for the 2nd out so runners are at the corners, followed by a runner being thrown out trying to steal 2B for the final out. 2-0 UConn.

The issue is a significant amount of revenue/NIL is going to men’s basketball, then football and women’s basketball, my guess men’s ice hockey is above the baseball team.
 
I just put on ESPN. Rispoli knocked in a couple with a single to make it 6-0. They had strung 4 his together. No clue how the other runs happened. Sorry.
 
Jonesy and Giardino call a fun game. Even when things aren’t going so well.

Bottom 4th, Belisario leads off with a single, with no outs he moves to 3B on a throwing error by the pitcher on a pick off attempt, Righi follows with a walk, and steals 2B with no outs, a run scores on a sac fly by Wachter for the 2nd out. 7-0 UConn.

With 2 outs a run scores on a Dalena single. 8-0 UConn.
 
Bottom 5th, after a 1 out infield single by Rispoli, the UConn offense has a scoreless inning, Rispoli is thrown out trying to steal 2B for the final out of the inning. 8-0 UConn.
