It truly is amazing how our pitching is so good until we give them some runs to work with and then they are not. And another muff in the outfield doesn't help. . Really starting to think our bullpen isn't really that good either. If our starters don't pitch complete games we seem to be screwed

And the outfield positioning was odd. Why was Belisario playing so shallow on the first double? Shouldn’t they be in “no doubles” mode? He is playing deeper, he catches that. And then the second double he was shaded way over in left field leaving the gap wide open.

ETA: And just as I was typing that, defense lets them down again. Definitely should have been an error on Marshall.

Our defense stinks, maybe because so many guys are playing out of position, but why? Put Righi in the OF, put Minick at 3rd, Delana at 1st and Marshall at Dan Hurley. Is there something I am missing?

You need to make it D.H. other wise Designated Hitter will turn into Dan Hurley without the periods. I know because it has happened to me many times in the past.

Bottom 9th, after a 1 out single by Marshall, Jemison pinch runs for Marshall but is thrown out trying to steal 2B, the UConn offense has a scoreless inning. St. John's wins 6-5.

I always hated all the defensive substitutions then in cases like this all your main guys are out when you come to plate in bottom of 9th

Missing the tournament for the 2nd year in a row would be a failure. Penders has done an amazing job here and he has earned the right to come out of this however it maybe time to start having that conversation.

UConn has been spolied in the past with closers that come in, and the game is basically over. This year they are having to extend starters, because the bullpen is so stretched... down to 3 arms. To be fair defense has been awful. This team is now on the verge of missing the Big East Tournament.
