Hey, what about Providence? :eek::eek:;);)

Seriously, I would match Miles and Nika, Fudd and Mabrey in the comparison sheet since I think that is how the matchups will look from the ND side at least. And I would make Nika / Miles even and Fudd super edge on Mabrey unless you count cheap fouls

Yes, we have Providence (first conference game) on Friday, followed by Notre Dame (another ABC televised game). Providence should not challenge us much and will be a great opportunity to get more of our bench involved, in preparation for the NOTRE DAME game, which will be the next big test for our team.

As of today, Uconn has a 7 game win streak against ND. That's at home and away. In 2013 ND beat Uconn 3 games in a row,BUT, lost in the NC which was the only game that counted. Citron and Miles are good players, but, we have excellent players. This will be like the IOWA game, ND will put up a fight, but it won't be enough. We will prevail. Aaliyah's new nick name is "the Beast " because of the way she is playing. Caroline is showing she is back , we have Azzi, WE have Nika and we have Lou and Aubrey. That is a formidable line-up by any standards. UCONN all the way. GO HUSKIES!!!

I agree but would give the edge to Westbeld..better rebounder and scorer

That game was the semi-finals. And pretty sure if you aske Geno, he'd say losing both the regular season championship and conference championship mattered.

I’ll be interested in whether Geno puts Nika on Miles. If she does, Miles can get very rattled by having someone in her grill (Doris Burke reference), as does Mabrey. (part of the gene pool). Control these two to something reasonable (25 - 30 combined) and I think we come away with a W.

Correct. We beat ND in the Championship game the next season...when UConn went undefeated after joining the AAC.

I would match Nika and Miles as well, but Miles has the edge. Agree with you on Azzi having the super edge on Mabrey. Bransford is a much better defender and is physical, so hopefully she's ready for a big game.

Westebeld hasn't been producing as much as expected, ans I think it has to do with an underlying injury. She has spent a lot of time on a bike during the last few games and has gotten her minutes reduced. Of course she is healthy enough to play, so can't complain.

Who did the analysis that is in the OP?
And if this game is close (less than a 20 point lead in the 4th), Ines and Amari probably won't be playing. So bench players would only be Caroline and Ayanna.
And the second most vivid thing I remember about last year's game, the Golden Domers had the ball with less than 25 seconds remaining in the game, were losing by 21 and Miles scored on a layup just before the time went to 00:00. Unsportsmanlike much!!!!!!

Miles appears to be ND's primary PG.
She was recently ejected during their Northwestern game due to her 2nd technical foul.
Mabrey was also part of a double technical foul during their game with Cal.
Tempers could potentially flare up if ND is losing to UConn.

This will not be an easy win, but it will be a win. The favor goes to UConn, because we have a MUCH better coaching staff than Ivey and crew. This was the difference maker in the Iowa game, and it will be in the ND game.
I think that ND will resort to one on one ball with Miles being the main hog, and Mabrey always ready for a throw down. It's gonna be a rough one, with many fouls called....possibly in ND's favor. Isn't that always the way?

Many could call Notre Dame as a "Scrappy" team, and yes, Dara Mabrey (as with her older sisters) tends to have a bit of a temper. Olivia Miles can also get 'aggressive' at times on the floor. (the real "Powder Keg" on that team is definitely Nat Marshall)

You have to wonder about coaches whose players behave like this. I mean, Miles is a major talent and yet she can't manage to keep her cool in a 30 pt blowout?! This is pathetic sportsmanship, but strangely it's a recurring theme at ND over more than one coach. Coach Abe is another one, and the culture of at Georgia seems almost toxic. In game film reviews afterwards, don't these coaches call attention to this behavior? Or do they not consider themselves to be teachers?

The ND game last season was full of little chippy things just like this, and lots of flopping -- that combination is paradoxical but maybe inevitable. In the second half, Paige seems to have had enough and decided to outmaneuver them -- Miles, Mabry, Citron -- hanging fouls on all of them, and it was like watching poetic justice.

One reason to have Nika guard Miles is that she's probably not going to be able to keep her cool under that sort of pressure. With the talent she has, Miles needs to grow up a little.

Character. One of the reasons for UCONN's recruiting successes over the years is that Geno and CD recruit character. When was the last time a UCONN player was ejected? I don't recall one in the last 25+ years although I suppose there might have been.
