. . Nurse and Collier.

A tough call and some may disagree. Five players scored in double figures (17, 14, 14, 13, 11) and a good case could be made for a couple of them. What set Pheese and Kia apart? As I watched the game they seemed to be the principal tormenters of LSU on defense. And Pheese's 12 rebounds and Kia's 8 assists caught my attention. True, she only scored 7, but her 4 steals and 6 blocks made up for that. ;)

(I also can't justify more than 2 BA awards for a 46-point blowout.)

Recap: Stewie 5; Mo. 3; Morgan and Gabby, 2 each; Pheese, Kia and TLaw, 1 each. :)

I think Nurse comported herself as a Badass. That imperative motion toward Tuck was priceless.

Collier was merely profoundly impressive.

I will respond by respectfully stating how profoundly impressed I was by Collier's tenacious defense and her stat line of 12 rebounds (5 on offense), 4 steals, and 6 blocks.

Plus a high speed motor and an unusual combination of confidence and enthusiasm. A real Badass! :D

If defense is the determining factor then coach Fargas nominates Moriah Jefferson.....

"Moriah Jefferson is one of the smartest defenders out there. I thought it would be best putting her on Deemer, with the defensive style that Moriah plays and how she doesn't take a position (possession) off. [Moriah] took the defensive challenge of really shutting down our best player.

"I think you have a team that has depth in the sense of leadership. Moriah Jefferson picked it up, she definitely lead the attack and you knew that when one man goes down the rest of the team is going to respond and that's what you had, you had a team that responded with their best player being out."

johnnyc nailed it. MoJeff is the REAL bad ass !!! But Kib's mention of Collier and Nurse was also right on!!!!:)

MoJeff's offense was not bad either, she only scored team high of 17 pts.

This is just a bad ass team, somewhere out there Bam Bam must be living this.

In Oklahoma.

We might need to lose the Bam Bam moniker too. Way more Pebbles than Bam Bam.

Collier--without a doubt. I've been impressed with her since the USA games--the kid can play. Disgusting as I am, she is also beautiful to look at--but amazingly graceful as she runs. Swin-like, but out doing Swin (I hope).
It was good the LSU kid was ejected--I wonder if Kia could have had one of her "charges"????

Nikki Caldwell (LSU Coach) was complimentary. So to return the favor--her team, a work in progress, showed signs of real potential for top 25 or higher. Not much give up on that very short bench.

I offer an HONORABLE MENTION Bad A-- award to Natalie Butler--the look of sitting frustration on her face during the game told a volume of those ---Who wait --also serve.....Darm it!!

Collier continues to impress me. In my mind, she is the surprise of the season(so far.)

I will give to Gabby.. She suffers a such serious flagrant foul and deserves the award....

Swan like movement, she just glides down the floor. I bet her upper body can't even detect the motion of her legs.

Upon further review, add another Badass Award to Moriah. I watched the game again, read Nikki's comments, and listened to Geno, post-game. She played her customary pesky defense, scored 17 points, had 4 steals, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists that went into the box score. Had Kia not missed the easiest bunny she will ever see again, Mo would have earned a highlight reel assist with an acrobatic pass. That was the clincher. :)

Kib, great post!!! Couldn't agree more about your conclusion. But you are not too wrong in your original thinking.

I'm looking forward to seeing Phessa after a summer in the weight room.
She is the real McCoy.
So refreshing to find kids who love the trenches and prize their ball-hawking.

She is the real deal. When we determined Natalie to be the fifth starter this summer, I was adamant about Collier pushing everybody for first off the bench. She is smooth and confident in her shot. In fact, I believe Geno wants her to take the open shot more often instead of kicking it out. Her rebounding effort continues to impress me.
