Only won because of a wild pitch. The offense was awful.

Nice win though. 2-1 for the weekend would be pretty good, but we need to actually beat Purdue tomorrow (who was mauled by USF today and will have awful pitching).

A few glaring concerns looking at the box score. Sienna made 3 errors at 3rd last nite. A total of 4 errors over the 2 games. Third base fielding was a major concern last year.
Hitting was pretty much non existant yesterday. The winning run was scored w/o a hit. Mazilli has only 1 hit in 12 plate appearances.
On the plus side, other than Marzi's bad 4th inning vs Purdue, the pitching was pretty good.

Relief pitching has been great. Need to leave less men on base ( 15 last night) and fielding needs to improve. It would be nice to beat Purdue and start season 2 - 1.

as far as 3rd base woes, dont you think its time to cast some blame towards the infield coach? everyone has struggled there. is he teaching these kids, most of whom never played 3rd, the finer points of doing it? does he even know the finer points of doing it? i know he throws a good BP.... but its seems to be due time to get a legit infield coach

Sienna was a SS in HS. Much like Testani last year. Apparently the switch to 3rd has been troubling for both. Next year Ryan Sullivan comes in as a supposed good fielding 3b. After Mazilli finishes up Sienna will move back to either SS or 2b.

I listened to the first two games on WHUS. Aside from the Siena errors at 3B, the fielding has been pretty solid. Which is an improvement over last year, where it seemed everyone in the field was contributing to the ball being thrown or bobbled every which way in addition to the problems at Third.

Relief pitching has been solid. They might get themselves into jams, but they managed to pitch their way out of a number of them in last night's game.

I have said before in regards to Siena that he would struggle defensively, as he did at Amity. He has the tools (quickness, arm strength, etc) to be above average defensively but he has always struggled with his glove for whatever reason. Hopefully the coaching staff can work him thru the issues but we need to give it some time. Next year he will be at 2nd
