. . . Stewie! As much as I wanted to honor her gunning mates (Moriah and Morgan) for their superb play, Stewie's stat line was beyond category: 16 points, 7 assists, 6 blocks, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals. Everything but a partridge in a pear tree. :)

This is getting repetitive.
You will miss it next year. Stewie is amazing, and I don't think most will appreciate it until next year when there is no Stewie (or Mo) in the starting line up. This is it folks. After this year, it's downhill for UConn WCBB :(

No kidding...Maryland will win 4 straight starting next year. They got the best player in the country (that girl from CT...can't remember her name), the best coach, the best recruiting classes. No excuses for Freeze to use.

Ha ha not quite, but Geno is gonna be 62 and can no longer guarantee recruits he will be there for their senior day. I didn't mean that they won't win any more titles w/o Stewie, just that this is the pinnacle of the Geno era. You have to admit it's going to be tough to continue this kind of dominance once Stewie and Mo leave.

Tough is their middle name!

I remember everyone said the same thing about UCLA after Alcindor left. All the Bruins did after that was win 4 straight and 5 out of 6. That's why they play the games!

I seem to remember the same predictions when the Cash/Jones/Bird/Williams class graduated and when DT graduated and when Maya graduated, etc, etc.....

I was at the game and pick Moriah.
Man was she tough.
At one point she had the ball taken away but swiped it back immediately and zoomed in
And she was relentless on Romero
held her to 9 on 4 for 12
but by stopping her, you basically stopped their whole offense...and they are super athletic, fast and jump!
No Question Moriah was the stopper and super-badass.

Yup. After this year we are definitely, incontestably, indubitably, dog-ass DOOMED!!!! Time to sell Husky stock short.

Geno was also a lot younger with many years ahead of him. Even Geno has said he doesn't know how many more final fours he will get to go to. I'm just enjoying all of this, because I know in 5 years from now we could be experiencing what Tennessee is going through right now. I hope not, but I do recognize it as a distinct possibility.

Msf- u r 1000 % correct!!! Every time we had a couple bad possessions, or FSU made a 2 score run and would bring it to 10 or so, she literally would take it over and drain the three, ball fake and pull up jumper. Every offensive turnover, she wouldn't stop till she got the ball hdg the opposite direction. Stewie and Morgan had the stat sheet, but if u were there, I think Messiah was the "bad ass"! Honorable mention to Stewie!

Stewie was wonderful, amazing, doing only things she can do...but sometimes it seemed almost effortless, 'nother day at the office.

Moriah was the blue -plate special, doing the work in the trenches, grit and determination and tons of heart.
And this bumping her thing continued a bit...and she's starting to give back...quite a bit today

The team missed about 6 easy lay ups today. Collier is a cool customer. Great rebounder, solid defense -and in a nice flow with the offense. Gabby was a monster defensively and disrupting the passing lanes!

Hey Kib- MO was great, but Stewie did it all. Here is a alternative method of proving ones total effectiveness/greatness. Geno/CD recognized this method and now can identify what "Play like Stewie" means on the stat sheet.
Add up the categories of the stat line - 5 steals, 5 rebounds (that's 10 Positive Plays already), 7 assists (17 Pos.Play's), 6 blocks (23 PPs) and 8 shots (16 pts--) for a total of 31 plus PPs. Stewie is always there! Can Lou or Collier or GAbby or Tuck have that many PPS each game? I estimate that 20 positive plays is the over under for a top player. Check it out. IMHO many top scorers don't reach 20 PPs a game. Someone look at the top 25 WBB players and add the stat line----see if you get over 20 on a regular basis. How many 25 PP games? How about a 30PP game? That could challenge the triple double as a mark of greatness!

I enthusiastically agree!!! The UConn band bumped me from my bought seat to a Row A sideline seat, first time I've been down at Mo's level to watch her, and I was blown away by her disruption of FSU's offense. I refuse to believe that she had only two hands and, according to the game stats, only four steals. Her sense of anticipation was preternatural, no kidding. And that lo-o-o-ng bounce pass on a break to Kia was just insane.

BTW, I noticed more sharply the double and triple switches UConn has been using after high screens by opponents' bigs on our point guard defenders-- so fast it seems automatic, thereby negating the usual mismatch in the lane, and too fast most of the time for opponents to exploit it.

I was at the game and the bad ass was Jefferson. Stewart and Tuck had good games, but Jefferson was relentless, a Husky version of a Tasmanian devil.
On one hustle play- Moriah was just unbelievable with her tenacity. At the end of the play, Geno was standing but bent over clapping at eye level to Messiah- it was like that Kelly Farris /Geno moment with the chest but at Gampel when Kelly was at a level that transcended even her normal hustle. Was that clip of Geno on TV???
What a sign of respect and admiration. He was giving Gabby big props during some of her extraordinary hustle as well! I know Stewie has become an "All World" player. There was an intangible in Messiah last night. IN my humble opinion!

Anyone see the play where Stewart inbounded the ball while Jefferson was getting instructions from Auriemma? The ball hit next to her and it looked like she jumped a foot.
