However I guess that there's no guarantee that it will stay there...

Are saying that it isn't showing up on SNY's schedule?
If you don't have SNY, I believe that you can add the Sports package and SNY is included no matter your location. Or at least it was when I quit DirecTV a couple of years ago. And I believe that the Sports package is only available if you have the upper tier tv packages (which I had). I would add it to my subscription every November and remove it in March.
