*Sole possession of 4th place.

Either way win vs Lowell next week and get home ice. Maine and BU are the only two that can crack the top 4. Maine sits a point back with one to play and BU sits at 23 with 2 games vs NE. So we only need a point vs Lowell due to tiebreaks. Not sure if we have tiebreaker vs Maine. I know we’re 2-1 but the first didn’t count for HE?

Go for the win at UML. Tie would be great, though! Still two great efforts this weekend by the boys and they are in control of their destiny. Can’t ask for more than that! Keep it up and you’ll get a crowd for the playoffs like you got on Friday night. Friday night’s crowd showed the boys how important Home’s ice is!

As good as this team has played overall recently, special teams are a real problem and I find that a bit mystifying. We are at the bottom of college hockey on both sides of the puck. Through February 29 we are ranked almost last in the power play (14-106, .132) and the kill (75-104, .721) it hurt us big time last night and will kill us in the playoffs if a quick fix isn’t in the offing.

PP offense is all about discipline within a system. Have to agree with your assessment. Coaching really needs to be stepped up here. We have the horses to have great power play. For comparison watch highlights of Cornell vs. Clarkson last night. Mike Schaefer has those kids rotating through the slot and out to the circles in a very effective manner.

The power play has a weird set up and the puck moves slowly - the penalty kill is a bigger problem to me as they are condensed in between the circles and play too low. Vomacka gets screened and can't see the pucks coming in. I know they have tried different set ups but the kill looks like sitting ducks.

Exactly my thoughts...I’d like to see them attack the points more. If a guy gets around them, at least Vomacka will have a clean look at the shot. He’s pretty good when he sees it coming. I‘m no hockey coach, but they seem way too passive on the kill.
