I don't have high hopes for an upset here. This team is disappointing. We have failed to make the kind of leap I hoped for. I never expected UConn to have the consistency of BU and BC. But Maine, UNH, PC and now even UMass have had very strong teams on occasion. I'd like to see us finish top 4-5 at least once. That should have been achievable by now.

I was going ask what everyone thought about this weekend, but this sums it up pretty nicely. As I fan I always have hope, but the realist in me has to agree with everything Hawk said.

At Conte tonight. The Huskies have been the better team so far. Two lucky bounces for BC. One shot from the corner that hit something and went in, second one went off Ish and took a chopper bounce off the ice. Huskies pushing the pace well and the more physical team.

Unwatchable.....despite that, see you at the game tomorrow.

Its endlessly frustrating. Man. When's it ever get better?

UConn MHOC Twitter stopped updating after the end of second period tweet above.
Maybe my response flummoxed them.

Even the BC announcers wondered when the UCONN program will be ready to take the next step....they are even getting impatient....not sure how the UCONN players talent level is supposedly progressing but the team feels like they are regressing...I know..I know...the facilities...they are young...it takes time....toughest conference....the third jersey....yada yada...tired of the excuses....we are three games into Hockey East season and it feels like we are close to...."Wait Till Next Year" yet again....Wait till next year for what? So I can buy season tickets again when 50% of the XL center goes for free either as a student (if they go) or some promotion. Just beyond frustrated.

For those of you wondering his 5 year contract runs out after the 2020-2021 season. He's making about 330K per year.
What is the going rate for HE head coaches in terms of salary? I found Gendron from Maine getting about 215K. Bazin from UMass Lowell makes roughly 500K while Carvel at Amerhest made about 318K (Due for a raise I'd say).
Sneddon at VT is making about 290K.

and then what happened
There is zero defensive support. I’m not sure what someone saw with “lucky bounces” in the first period, but BC put the puck where Uconn’s defense in the zone wasn’t. 6-0 in hockey is like 42-0 in football. A blow out.

How do you regroup for a 330 tip off tomorrow

And I used to get blasted for saying Cavanaugh can't coach. Now you know.

There's really just one poster doing the blasting and thankfully he is now clearly in the minority. Imagine watching this game tonight and thinking things are just fine.

There’s an interesting point coming up, since he’s only got one year left on his deal. But college hockey coaches get forever. Everywhere. Doesn’t matter if they win, hell it doesn’t even matter if the players humiliate the university in some cases (hi, Vermont!). If I had to guess? There’s a new three-year deal that gets announced in May so he gets to coach in a new building.

It stinks, but it is what it is. Most programs have this happen. They get to a point where the fans realize the guy in charge isn’t going to be good enough. So you just hope he gets lightning in a bottle one March.

...provided he can even get them qualified for the tournament.

Already down 2-0 in first period. This is gonna be a long year for the ice bus. They look terrible.
