good shot at the top Big East seed if we sweep Butler and Xavier takes 2 from Creighton next week

One thing we can’t afford in winning the regular season championship is losing one of these games to weather. I wonder if there is any talk of playing 2 today if the weather holds
So to answer my own question, Chris Jones said during the broadcast that UConn asked if they could play 2 on Friday or Saturday to make sure that all three games were played and Nova simply refused. Assuming that’s true, what a piece of crap program. If they can’t get the game in tomorrow, it could be the difference between sharing the conference title and finishing a half game beyond Creighton.

Yup, Chris Jones did talk about that on the broadcast, saying also that Villanova baseball has a history of refusing home doubleheaders.

Forget them. Time for the HookC to score 40 tomorrow.

Boxscore

The Huskies and Wildcats will close out the series tomorrow at 10 a.m

Everyone should be available to pitch today. With no midweek games, there is no reason to hold back if someone is ineffective.

Two more singles by Root and Macarthur give UConn 2 on with 1 out. We’re getting lots of hits, but so far none of the bombs from the first two games.

Next two hitters are retired, so UConn does not score this inning.

-> UConn (30-13, 11-3 Big East) put up historic numbers Saturday in a 29–10 demolition of Villanova (20-23, 4-10) to clinch the series and continue its red-hot stretch. The Huskies scored 13 runs in the fourth inning alone and finished with 27 hits, including a program-record seven home runs in Big East play. Caleb Shpur went an absurd 7-for-7 with six RBIs and a homer, while Grant MacArthur and Ryan Daniels each went deep twice and drove in six and four runs, respectively. Sam Biller added five RBIs, including a three-run double in the fourth and a solo homer in the sixth. CJ Furey would be the one to wear it for the Cats, he was tagged for 13 runs over 0.2 innings of relief. UConn has now won 16 of its last 17 and climbed to No. 36 in the RPI. <-

Starting to rain. Wish they could have started an hour earlier.

UConn offense does nothing in the top half of the frame.

That's a decision that should be a league decision, teams shouldn't have a say in this and that's a crap rule that you can't make up a game.

Tough call as to whether you’re first priority is to get some insurance or go down intentionally the next two innings until you get 5 in and the game’s official.

I would also keep an eye on the radar and get Afthim ready at the first sign of trouble - the heavy stuff is supposed to arrive in around an hour.

No runs for UConn in the top half of the 4th; Rispoli missed a 2 run blast by a few feet.

As i understand it, this isn’t the first time they’ve done this.

West escapes the 4th with no damage!

Caleb and Ryan with back to back doubles to give UConn a 2-0 lead. We'd be feeling good about our offensive performance today vs a competent pitcher if the Rispoli ball had cleared the fence, but there's still time to jump on this pitcher.
