Bottom 7th, Chris Winkel with his second stolen base of the game after taking a leadoff walk, scores on a 2 out Kyler Fedko single to make it 7-0. After a wild pitch, 2 more runs score on a Crawford single to make it 9-0.

Top 8th, O'Donnell takes the mound for UConn. Not sure, but is this the first Friday that Kenny Haus has not pitched? Would be nice not to have to use the main bullpen guys today.

With the big lead, Kyler Fedko is out of the game, Korey Morton now in right field.

.-.
Freshman Bobby McBride warming in the pen, Chris Jones thinking he may pitch the 9th for his first appearance in a game for UConn.

Top 8th, O'Donnell starts out with 2 strikeouts, then gives up 2 walks, a wild pitch, and then a double to make it 9-2. Fly ball out ends the inning.

Bottom 8th, UConn goes down 1-2-3. McBride in to pitch the top of the 9th. Hague playing 2B after Langer pinched hit for Christian Fedko.

Just started listened to the game, the voice of Chris Jones never fails!! Great offensive game so far and another great pitching performance from Casparius. Was that ticket offer for anyone or just people that donate to the program?

For the record... 😉

Never heard of one of these post game interviews called on account of the cold weather before, but I can understand it today. That was the shortest interview in some time.

Penders very happy that they were able to go with the two freshmen pitchers late in the game.

The bottom of the UConn lineup has picked it up of late. Chris Winkel now is hitting .254 with an on base percentage of .348. Chris Brown is hitting .254, and has boosted his on base percentage to .333.

Saving the bullpen was obviously huge. With Wurster, Marrerro, Haus, Willis, Polônia and Crawford all fresh, if they get five innings out of Peterson, which if the cold doesn’t bother him they should, even if we get nothing out of Simeone there are enough innings among the trusted receivers in the pen to get us through the doubleheader without having to go to the arms that are like a box of chocolates.

No question it is big, not having to use the big guys out of the bullpen yesterday. Today, I'm hoping that the first game with Peterson has something of a similar path to yesterday, so we can save the bulk of these guys for the second game with Simeone when they no doubt will be needed.

With a lefty on the mound for UMass, no real surprise to see David Langer in the D.H. spot instead of Ben Maycock. It will be interesting to see how Chris Winkel does with the left handed pitchers.
