Top 6th, after a leadoff single by Minick and a double play, Dougherty gets a 2 out single, Dougherty steals 2B. Biller follows with an RBI single, 9-3 UConn.

Lane follows with an RBI double, 10-3 UConn.

Lane moves to 3B on a wild pitch. Padilla draws a walk. Rispoli follows with an RBI single, 11-3 UConn.

Lots of timely steals this series have manufactured some runs.

Top 7th, Daniels gets a leadoff walk, Minick gets on base on a fielders choice ground out for the 1st out, Minick is thrown out trying to steal 2B for the 2nd out. The UConn offense has a scoreless inning. 11-3 UConn.

Hope West can give us a strong start and limit free 90s. Speaking of which, do we know the extent of Suchy’s injury?
Good luck on the Suchy question. I've asked three times on three different threads, and either no one knows or no one felt like answering.:(

Can't say for certain, but I believe Chris Jones said on game broadcasts shortly after the injury that Suchy might be out for the season.
Thanks for that update. I guess it took CtBaseball to ask. :)

Just three hits (and one earned run) for St. Johns so far. They had five or six hitters over .300 in the lineup, so Husky pitching has been strong.

Top 8th, a leadoff walk by Dougherty followed by Biller getting hit by a pitch. On a fly out for the 1st out, both runners move up a base into scoring position. Padilla follows with a 1 out 3 run homer. 14-3 UConn.

It is possible that if UConn has a 10 run lead after the bottom of this inning, the mercy rule may be in effect for travel days in the Big East conference. It has been in the past.

Bottom 8th, Finn has a 1-2-3 inning with 2 strikeouts, 14-3, UConn wins with the mercy rule, they sweep the series.

This sets up their pitching nicely for midweek games against Rutgers and Rhode Island. I would think that Gabe would be in the mix.

Wow! 44 runs on 54 hits (if my quick math is right). UConn scored at least one run in 17 of the 26 innings, and in 14 of those 17 innings they put up crooked numbers.

-> St. John's and UConn will meet for the 130th time in the all-time series when this weekend's set kicks off on Friday afternoon. The Huskies hold a 67-62 all-time advantage over the Red Storm, but the Johnnies hold a slim 32-28 edge in Queens. <-

^Even slimmer edge in Queens now^:
