What an incredibly poor performance in the bottom of the 10th. Just hate to see it

For some reason I don't see all the posts, so apologies if this was mentioned already. In the last 6 games (6-0), the Huskies have scored 66 runs (vs. 22 for the opposition) against three teams with winning records. I'd say the offense is peaking at the right time.

For those who went to the game(s), what are they allowing/not allowing you to bring into the park? It’s says you can bring your own food/drink since there are no concessions. Are they allowing bags? And what items are prohibited?

I can't say I'm surprised to see Joe Simeone get the start, although I'm sure he will be operating under his usual short leash, especially with the bullpen in good shape for today.

I don't expect to see the coaching staff to start experimenting with starters on the last day of the season with first place in the Big East standings on the line. Such experimentation usually takes place in midweek games, but one of the effects of the pandemic was to limit the time to find alternatives in non conference games that would not hurt you all that much.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Reggie Crawford get a lot more time as a starter next season. However, starting him in this game would take two plus defenders out of their normal spots, Crawford at 1B and Chris Winkel at CF. And this while having David Langer playing at 2B. One of those things, it looks like too many moving parts on the defensive side of things.

Game Notes
  • The Huskies have outscored the Pirates, 38-9, in the first three games of the series.
  • UConn has four players with double digit home runs this season. It is the first time since 2010 (Mike Olt, George Springer and Mike Nementh) that the Huskies have had three players or more with double-digit long balls.
  • The Huskies are hitting .328, hit 25 homers and are averaging 8.86 runs per game at Elliot Ballpark this season. UConn is 15-1 at its new digs.
  • UConn is 17-4 since the start of April and have won 25 of its last 31 games.
  • With the victory in game one, Jim Penders captured his 600th career win as head coach of the Huskies

I also suspect that injuries to pitchers like Will Lucas and others, and poor early performances by such pitchers as Jimmy Wang and Colby Dunlop helped to keep Simeone in the weekend starting rotation.
 
Top 1st, a walk and a solidly hit two out double gives Seton Hall a 1-0 lead going to the bottom of the 1st.

I thought it was dropping in for sure... nice play.
 
Top 2nd, Simeone hits the first batter, Justin Willis warming up. Simeone with a scoreless inning as he retires the next three hitters.
 
Chris Jones says Christian Fedko may be available to pinch hit today. Unlikely that T.C. Simmons will see any more playing time this season.
 
Bottom 2nd, a 1 out wild pitch ties the game a 1, runner on 3rd now.
