UConn v. Rutgers H/H incoming.

If no UC home game, I go to see RU. B1G / Power Conf. atmosphere. Excellent facilities. Makes the Rent look like it belongs to a junior college in rural Kansas. Most on their non B1G games are against weak/bad opponents. They are better than you might think. This is not the RU program that you remember playing years ago. Should be a fun match up.
Interesting. I have not been to a B1G stadium, so maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

Having been to Michigan, Penn State as well as Rutgers many times my choice would be The Rent every time. Much more comfortable seating and great sight lines.
There are two sides to this though. Comfort and sight lines, sure the Rent has it. That’s about all it has over the Big House and Penn St, two stadiums I’ve also been to. You cannot touch the atmosphere in those stadiums. The closest we’ve ever come were our 2000’s in the BE. Even that was nothing compared to those stadiums.

I absolutely love that we’re playing RU. The disgust they have for playing us and the hatred we have for them getting the golden ticket for doing nothing but supposedly getting NYC cable boxes, is what will make these games even better. The Northeast needs college teams that have rivalries. BC and UConn could be one but it always feels like we hate BC more than they do. That’s probably because they have a few fans and the ones that exist barely care enough. Syracuse and UConn was a great basketball rivalry that I felt was trying be forced to be one on the football field but never happened. UMass is fun but not the same level as playing a former BE team. So that leaves Rutgers and how can you not hate them? Their fans are trash as well so it just leads to a good hatred between fan bases and possibly a renewed rivalry?

Unfortunately, there’s nothing in it for RU to continue it after the H/H unless we get our own golden ticket.

The proverbial fat girl that has hot friends. Except in this case, they aren't really even friends. They just let her hang out with them because her parents have money (but she doesn't).

To be fair though, we have some fans that act the same way when it comes up that we should play UMass in basketball. I know plenty of reasonable Rutgers fans.
And the fact that we never really accomplished much in basketball makes this a great analogy.

Proximity. It's a cost-effective road game.

If we play enough, the game will start to matter to the fan basis.

Me too. A lot of them have said that they were treated very badly when they came to the Rent.

I have to laugh about them complaining about East Hartford as a destination. Piscataway isn't exactly Maui.
They were. Drunken packs of young guys were hassling their older fans walking to the stadium, it was disgusting. Got to a game late once and as I was walking through the blue lot, a young guy ran past me then proceeded to throw a beer bottle at a car as he was leaving the lot getting to the stadium. Times of bad behavior that.

Ray Rice in that heartbreaker?
UConn 24, UConn 21 on Todman TD w/38 seconds left
Rutgers 1st & 10 at R19 w/22 seconds left
Tom Savage pass complete to Tim Brown for 81 yards for a TOUCHDOWN.
Rutgers 28, UConn 24
ugh

Eldest son married a Piscataway resident ( Q.U. grad). Her parents are season ticketholders fir Ruttie football & men's hoops. Should be an interesting tailgate in East Hartford & on the banks of the Raritan...

The game I remember, but not the year, was Rutgers had the lead and forced a punt. Rutgers punt returner tried to scoop the ball instead of downing it. He bobbled the scoop, we recover and Brockington scored to win it. Rutgers Al had a very lengthy post explaining why Rutgers actually won since they had more yards, more first down, more passing and rushing yards. UConn had more points though which seemed to undercut his argument some.😉

Home and home with "the birth canal", I'm all in.

Hoping the baseball team draws first blood tomorrow in NJ at 3 pm.
