-> The games will be Sept. 9, 2028 at UConn and Sept. 8, 2029 at SHI Stadium.

That will renew a series that began in 1940 and has included 33 previous meetings. The teams played in the Big East together from 2004-12. The Scarlet Knights have won four of the last six meetings. <-

This was the last hold out from the old days that matters…. Sans WV- but who wants to bother playing them- never been fun.

The perhaps bigger news here is that we have Home game vs a power conf team. Duke got some crap for traveling to Hartford last year for a loss…

Safe to say Rutgers fans don't like this development.

the entitlement on the rutgers forum is... wow.
It's like they got a B1G patch on their jerseys and forgot they contribute absolutely nothing... NOTHING... to the esteem of that conference.

I've said it before, but IMO there is not one school less deserving of a P4 membership than rutgers. no history in the leagues (a-la Northwestern/Vandy), no athletic accomplishments of note, and they were not necessary for B1G to meet their NYC market goals... just a barnacle hitching a ride on the Big Ten whale.

A Rutgers fan reading this might say i'm just a hater... and y'know what, I probably am. I am not jealous of Rutgers as a school, it's a fine school. I can admit I am jealous of their barnacle status. I cannot find a single thing Rutgers gave them that we couldn't have, with the same revenue. It IS unfair. But on we go.

The proverbial fat girl that has hot friends. Except in this case, they aren't really even friends. They just let her hang out with them because her parents have money (but she doesn't).

To be fair though, we have some fans that act the same way when it comes up that we should play UMass in basketball. I know plenty of reasonable Rutgers fans.

There was a notable quote in that thread, though. One of the Rutgers fans said "not a wise move. Why give them a lifeline?"

And THIS is the point! Every school in the northeast absolutely loves that we make 1/5 their money. Because they know that if they are having a hard time competing with us now, then what would happen if we were on equal footing?!?

These RU fans are insufferable.. Their sports teams all suck.

These delusional hacks actually think they are Penn St and should get 2 for 1 with us. They are dreaming.

B1G should kick these losers out of the league cause they contribute nothing athletically.

The only reason to play them is to beat their sorry asses in football.

If no UC home game, I go to see RU. B1G / Power Conf. atmosphere. Excellent facilities. Makes the Rent look like it belongs to a junior college in rural Kansas. Most on their non B1G games are against weak/bad opponents. They are better than you might think. This is not the RU program that you remember playing years ago. Should be a fun match up.

I get why they don't want to play us, and I get their dislike of our fans. However, I don't understand their hatred of The Rent. I've been to college football games at ND, BC, UMass, and Miami. The experience at The Rent is much better than any of those stadiums. We have great tailgating, diverse food and beer choices and purchase locations, beautiful turf, great sight lines and sound, etc. East Hartford is not the place to stay over, but we're a 10 minute drive from nice accommodations and nightlife in Hartford.
