UConn v. Rhode Island @ J.O.C. (4/24/19 @ 3p)

Good to see Kyler Fedko coming up with a couple of hits. If he gets going that will help.

Penders has gone with openers lately with Haus, Dunlop and Wang. Glad to get the win and hopefully not burn anyone out for the weekend.

In the postgame interview with Mike Crispino, in talking about the rise of Caleb Wurster, Coach Penders brought up PJ Poulin. In Poulin's sophomore year, he really got his first notice from being put into impossible pitching situations (bases loaded, no or one out, that sort of thing), and managing to get out of those situations with little or no damage. Penders noted that Wurster has been doing much the same thing this season. I thought it was an interesting and an apt comparison.

In the interview with Chris Jones, Coach Penders talks about how much the Elliot's have done for UConn baseball. Penders also talks about how the current JO Christian Field and how the JO Christian name will remain attached to the practice/intermural field that will replace the current baseball field when UConn baseball moves across the street. Very good.

A win is a win but it didn't have to be that close
Too many wasted MISP chances again today
On to the next
Was heading to Storrs but had to put a fire out at work - that damn work thing always gets in the way

Year and and year out Rhode Island is one of the better baseball teams in New England. Which is probably why UConn always seems to play them twice every season.
