As close to a flawless game as you can get. Toppa warming up, Winkel starting to get some big hits. Moriarity and Lembrecht with big hits. Shaping up nicely.
Anyone notice the jump they do at the end of the game, Yahn came up limping. Wish guys would stop doing that, seems so many guys tear their ACL's doing that.

They played the most complete game this year. They got it done in all phases. What a fantastic performance by Feole. I'd like to be they first to congratulate him on AAC Pitcher or the Week.

No question Mason Feole was the star of the game today. 8 quality innings of very efficient pitching, throwing 99 pitches. He keeps this sort of thing up, it might not be long before Feole gets the chance at throwing complete games. Also, the bullpen in general had an excellent weekend as well.

Meanwhile, there has definitely been a sighting of John Toppa's bat. He now has four multi hit games in a row, giving the UConn offense a nice lift in the second half of the batting order. At this point I'm assuming he is now going to be a fixture in left field. Coach Penders had mentioned in one of the recent post game interviews that Toppa has been doing very well in batting practice since the BYU series, but the results were not translating to play in games, that is, not until now. Winkel is showing some good signs of late with the bat as well.

Biggest question mark on this team right now is midweek starters. I would think Rossomando will continue to get first call here in the hopes that he gains some consistency of control through repetition in starting every week. UConn has one midweek game against Bryant this coming week. After that, they have two games during the midweek during the last two weeks of April.

Huskies Sweep Memphis, 4-0

Notes
  • Mason Feole becomes the first pitcher since Jordan Tabakman back in 2013 to start the season 5-0.
  • The eight innings of work for Feole is the most by a UConn starter this season.
  • The 6-0 start to conference play is the first time the Huskies have won their first six conference games since 1976 when the Huskies were in the Yankee conference.
  • The Huskies notched their third shutout of the season.
  • UConn has registered four-straight double-digit hit games
Onto Bryant on Tuesday.
