Leaving too many runners on base. I think these guys are reading the BY. I am a guy whose glass is half empty. Could dbmill be Chris Jones??

Top 5th, Ellisen gives up a leadoff double. A 2 out error by Padilla puts a runner on 1B and brings in a run. 4-1 UConn.

A 2 out double drives in another run, 4-2 UConn.

I am not Chris Jones, far from it. I have met Chris Jones several times at games, practices and UConn baseball alumni barbecues. I suspect at this point he knows me by sight, but I could be wrong on that point.

I do wonder if Penders has given thought to sitting Padilla, who is important defensively and a leader, and moving Minnick to 3rd, letting McArthur play first and Root Dan Hurley, preventing him having to sit one of Root, McArthur, Dougherty or Billings every game. Unlike having pushed Cooke to start Tuesday night, I don't feel strongly about this move. Just wondering if the extra defense is worth sitting one of those bats every game.
With Padilla's defense as of late it doesn't seem like a tough decision. Now he swings at ball 4.

Bottom 5th, lead off walks by MacArthur and Garbowski. A line out double play removes MacArthur from the bases. Garbowski advances to 2B on a throwing error by the pitcher on a pickoff attempt. Rispoli draws a walk. Shpur follows with a 3 run homer, 7-2 UConn.

Top 7th, after a 1 out single and the runner steals 2B and 3B, Ellisen has a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts. 8-2 UConn. Ellisen now has 8 strikeouts, and has thrown 82 pitches in this game.

Top 8th, Caruso walks the leadoff batter, and the next batter gets a single. Caruso comes out of the game, Finn takes the mound.

Finn strikes out the 1st 2 batters he faces, and then gives up a 2 out single that drives in a run. 10-3 UConn.

Finn gets his 3rd strikeout to end the inning. 10-3 UConn.

Why is it that watching some of these games is like watching my kid in his first year of kid pitch. I just can't believe all the walks.
Im replying to my own post, but something is wrong with baseball when I am watching the Red Sox walk 5 guys in the 9th inning against the Braves. It's apparently through baseball that this is occuring. It's a shame that guys are making it to the majors just based on how hard they can throw the ball. Are hitters just so much better these days that pitchers are trying to be too perfect and throw so hard? I just don't get it.

Baseball became so boring that the suits decided to do anything to increase scoring: lower the mound, add the designated hitter, shrink the strike zone. What’s next? A free pass to second base on a walk. Oh…..excuse me, they begin the tenth inning on second now, Perhaps each team should start extra innings with a grand slam.

I especially can't stand the thing in extra innings with runners being at 2B at the start of the inning.
