Having nothing better to do, I just called WHUS about the audio on today's game. They are aware of it and working on it between innings.

I sent a message LOL...

East Carolina rally in the 2nd inning. 3-0, one out with the Pirates still at bat.

.-.
So is better WHUS audio a good omen? UConn scores two runs in the 3rd inning after the reception clears up.

.-.
Polonia has had times where he has been brilliant, but when he doesn't have his control he can be awful. Today was pretty bad for him. 10-6 East Carolina going into the bottom of the 7th.

Polonia looks to be a good young talent, unfortunately right now in this stage he has absolutely no control of his pitches. 2 Hit batters, wild pitches, walks just opens up a huge inning for ECU and another one slipping away.

UConn rally in the bottom of the 7th inning picks up 3 runs. It is now 10-9 going to the top of the 8th.

East Carolina picks up a run off of Domnarski in the top of the 8th to make it now 11-9 East Carolina.

Sunday lineup has a surprise, no Bobby Melley, Gnesda is at 1B. East Carolina's starting pitcher is a lefty sinker baller (according to the last Penders post game interview), so that may enter into that decision. Also, with UConn probably out of an at large NCAA bid, maybe they want to give Gnesda a look out in the field for a possible preview of next season.

Chris Jones said that Melley missed a start in 2014, but aside from that he has been a lineup fixture since he arrived in Storrs.

.-.
According to the WHUS crew, Joe DeRoche-Duffin is well enough to play the field today. However, with Melley out of the lineup with his illness, the decision was made to Dan Hurley him and move Gnesda to 1B.

Montgomerie seems to be walking the tightrope today (he already has hit two batters), but has worked out some trouble in his first two innings of work. No score with UConn at bat in the 2nd inning.

WHUS audio still off a bit, but not as bad as yesterday.

Even though Montgomerie has been living a bit dangerously, there is no score through 4 innings.

Is LeFevre hurt too? Seems odd that Susi would catch 3 straight games especially against 2 lefties. LeFevre has been a fairly good hitter this year.

I don't think LeFevre is hurt. I just think they like Susi's defense better, and Susi as a freshman is considered the better prospect for long term growth. LeFevre has done well this season, but he has had a lot of trouble throwing runners out on the base paths.

.-.
Montgomerie gets out of another jam in the 6th. He's thrown a lot of pitches so this may have been his last inning. While a lot of Montgomerie's problems can be of his own making, in recent starts he seems to be developing something of a knack of getting out of trouble without runners scoring on him. This knack is starting to impress me.
