No indication of who will be the starting pitcher for UConn yet, but I would think it would be Pat Gallagher, as he got the start against Central in the last midweek game. BC is a big step up from Central, but it would really help the UConn cause if Gallagher can show more signs in becoming a dependable starter. For many years under Penders the starting pitching was the big strength of the team, but this team has a ways to go on that front.

Also help if the offense can do anything. Grabbing an early lead could do a lot for a young pitcher like Pat who you don’t want to feel like he has to be perfect...then he starts missing spots and BC will make you pay.

Pitching has held both teams back this year. BC has given up a ton of runs in their most recent games. This could be a 14-12 game.

According to the BC schedule it’s also on the ACCNX

Devenney out 3-8 weeks w/ broken hamate bone in his wrist/hand. Back ups - Langer, C-Fed and Stock in no specific order.

TC Simmons still rehabbing from his injury.

Pitchers Mayock and Lucas working way back from injuries. Favieri as well. No timetable on them. McBryde may be available this weekend.

This post will scratch and itch for many. There have been so many questions and Lucas and Angus that now it makes sense that they are injured.

lots of staff hurt and limiting Penders options.

Thanks for the info, I've been waiting for this. Had a feeling Favieri might be hurt since he didn't pitch against Rhode Island.

Top 5th, Gallagher strands two runners on base with the aid a good defense from Stock. No score. Very nice start for Gallagher it looks like. Might be his last inning.

Not only injuries to the pitching staff, but to position players as well, which really makes the back end of lineup on the shaggy side in terms of production. It will be interesting to see what happens on the weekends at the catcher spot with all the doubleheader Saturday's coming up. I would half think Langer would be first up on the catcher list as he is not a regular, but that is just guess work.

Top 6th, Kenny Haus in to pitch. Can't imagine there are any complaints about Gallagher's performance today, just wish I had a chance to have listened to the rest of it.

Outstanding job by young master Gallagher. He was great against Central as well, but BC is a much higher level opponent.

He is clearly going to be the #3 or #4 starter heading into conference play. One more who we can count on for anything and we'll be in much better shape.

Coach Penders had previously indicated that Gallagher was headed to weekend starting duties if he produced at all in these midweek starts. Hopefully the next guy who starts in the midweek will show something as well, but that we will have to see about.
