Have to believe that Ian Cooke will be handed the rock and given a chance to go well into the game. He didn’t pitch this weekend, even when Shaw was called on for a second time against Butler after not getting it done the first time. At which point he would be prepared to start a game once/if we need a 4 man rotation come the Big East and NCAA regional tournaments.

As for how he’ll do, I’ve given up predicting pitching performances with us. But we didn’t lose to Northeaster last time because of our arms, but because that was our worst hitting performance of the year.

Is this Austin's first start of his UConn career? Is he related to Ian Cooke or is Ian his pitching demon alter ego?

During the game broadcasts over the weekend, it sounded like Chris Jones was thinking that Ian Cooke would likely be the starting pitcher in the Northeastern game.

.-.
I think Jude -> Cooke -> ??????? -> Afthim
This isn’t LIU, and it’s not whomever we’ll be playing in the NCAAs. We can’t roll out a “starter” whom we have no faith in, give up 3 runs in the first and only then turn it over to Cooke (or Shaw or Finn). I’d be shocked if it isn’t Cooke.

i'll bet you a Husky Hops.

Can't lose twice to that other Husky team in the same season

Tonight’s line-up brought to you by Husky Hops:

How good is our lineup? Beau Root is hitting .336 over a statistically significant amount of at bats and can’t get into the lineup every day. It’s absurd how good our offensive numbers are.

Other than the first game against Northeastern, where we went 8 innings without getting anyone on base.

Guessing that Ian Cooke will be the 1st pitcher out of the bullpen for UConn assuming the game is still close at the time.

Bottom 1st, Shpur gets a 1 out single, he steals 2B, but is left on base. No score.

Top 2nd, Abbadessa gives up a leadoff single, the runner steals 2B with no outs. A passed ball and a walk puts runners on the corners with 1 out. The runner on 1B moves to 2B on a wild pitch with 1 out. A 1 out double drives in 2 runs, 2-0 Northeastern.

Abbadessa comes out of the game, Hutchinson takes the mound, the 1st batter he faces is a lefty.

Again, too many walks. Don't understand why we didn't start Cooke.

Really piss poor performance there. Misses were not close. 3 walks and 2 basically wild pitches in 1.1 innings. Should have pulled him after 1.

Hutchinson retires the lefty batter for the 2nd out with a ground out that moves the runner to 3B, and comes out of the game. Cooke takes the mound.

Cooke gets a strikeout to end the inning. 2-0 Northeastern.

I guess the coaching staff has decided that Cooke is best coming out of the bullpen.
