For whatever reason, we seem to struggle early In the year. I had hoped we were over that, but after last weekend, I’m not so sure. This week will tell a lot about whether we will turn it around or just take the season off until the New Year.

.-.

This game is SO MUCH BIGGER than the potential three points. Defeating unbeaten UMass Lowell on the road on NESN (not NESN+) is a big step to building the UConn brand. Despite our recent climb upward in the HE standings, we are still regarded as a second tier HE program. When we beat the bigs (BC, BU, UMass, NE, PC and Lowell) on TV that is broadcast throughout New England, we establish credibility. Northern New England (and for hockey purposes I include greater Boston) respects only one team south of Massachusetts...............Providence. Quinnipiac...maybe, Yale...maybe, UConn and Sacred Heart.......no. Wins matter, and wins make marketing the brand easier.

Well said….UML did lose their first game of the season, 5-3 to Arizona State.

I’m on the road. Hope to be home by start of second period. I will be following your comments. Thanks!

Power play for UConn…not much happening.

UConn takes a penalty on the power play….it was a really bad looking PP. UML will have a PP after 25 seconds of 4 on 4.

1-0 UConn…might be reviewed for a high stick. Haven’t seen a good replay yet.

This might come back. Taking a long look.

No goal…high stick. Looked like the right call.

And Gatcomb takes a late penalty. Scoreless after one and UML will start the 2nd on a power play.

1st period stats. UConn with the better chances.

These announcers have let us know that Kondelik is 6’5” about 9 times now.

The 3rd will start with a 4 on 4 and then go to a UML power play. UConn’s power play is useless.
