UConn @ USF (Fri. 3/23 @7:00p on ADN, Sat. 3/24 @6:30p & Sun. 3/25 @1:00p)

Top 7th, UConn has the bases loaded with no out, pitching change for USF.

Stefanski grounds it to 3B, safe at the plate. 1-0 UConn. Still bases loaded, no out.

.-.
2-0, but Fedko grounds into a double play. An extra insurance run would be quite nice...

Wallace gets though the bottom of the 7th. 2-0 UConn. Suspect we will be seeing Moriarty at 3B and Poulin in for the save soon, possibly in the bottom of the 8th.

.-.
Poulin gives up a 2 run homer to tie it in the bottom of the 8th.

Not what I envisioned after Friday nite...

... I might feel a tad better if they beat BC on Tuesday tho’

.-.
Goes to show as good as it is to have effective starters a bullpen can really do a team in. A two inning save has been done by poulin before but would not have been made to see another inning out of Wallace there.

This team is frustrating.
That's UConn baseball. Get use to it. Can't walk a guy with 2 outs in inning and put the winning run on second. But if you have to rely on 2 pitchers and have to over work them both that is going to happen. Another game given away.

I have to question the state of mind of this team. When they win Friday games they seem to get complacent and come out dead Saturday and Sunday. When they lose Friday games they come out roaring the next two games. As @HuskyHawk mentioned, it’s extremely frustrating.

And with 2 outs and none on, it was the 7-9 hitters that beat you.

You can almost say the same thing inning by inning. How many times have we seen them have one big inning early and then do absolutely nothing the rest of the game and barely hold on.

The bullpen has been good lately
With a 2-0 lead vs USF going into the 8th you pray they can hold on but sometimes it just doesn't workout
Could have been a really solid series win
Now - beat the New England teams

Sorry for size - out of pocket tonight.

Going by both RPI and record, Cincinnati and Memphis are probably the two worst teams in the conference. Given the strength of the other AAC teams, UConn will really need to take care of business when they meet the Bearcats and the Tigers. I'm also hoping that by the time UConn really gets into conference play that the Huskies will get a few of their injured relievers back (Dandeneau, Rajkowski, and Polonia). It would also help if freshmen pitchers such as Colby Dunlop and Joe Simeone show some development. They both had a good stint in the second game against South Florida, it would really help if they emerge as dependable arms as the conference season continues.
