UConn will be facing lefty starting pitcher Tony Roca in the Friday night game to start the series. I'm interested to see if lefty batter T.C. Simmons starts this game in CF.

Dusty Rhodes Field. While it may not be named after the professional wrestler, that reference will certainly take me back to the days when I followed professional wrestling. By the way, there was also a professional baseball player by that name as well who is mainly remembered for his pinch hitting antics. This particular Dusty Rhodes was a college baseball coach.

Hardly the first time this has happened. Snow and/or ice storm in Connecticut, and UConn baseball playing down south the same day.

T.C. Simmons out of the lineup against a lefty starting pitcher, with Stock moving to center field. Christian Fedko is once again the D.H. It's possible he may not get much playing time in the field this season, but we'll see how that goes as the season progresses.

North Florida is scheduled have two righty starting pitchers going on Saturday and Sunday, so one would expect Simmons to be back in the lineup the rest of the weekend.

If there are nights you're willing to sacrifice D for O, better it to be a night when Peterson is on the mound and you're expecting mostly strikeouts anyway.

With Simmons being a lefty hitter, this sacrifice of his defense in center field might happen whenever UConn faces a lefty starting pitcher.

Bottom 1st, Peterson with a scoreless inning after the leadoff hitter reaches base on an infield single. Peterson with 2 strikeouts.

Top 2nd, Huber with a leadoff walk, but nothing happening after that for the UConn offense. No score.

Bottom 2nd, a leadoff single and a couple of misplays by the UConn infield including an error on Brown and Bushling not able to turn a double play lead to 3 runs for North Florida. All 3 runs unearned. UConn infielders have not not turned a double play yet this season.

I totally misread that. Didn’t even consider the possibility of hr off the bat.

Top 3rd, after the Bushling homer, the 2 out UConn rally continues with a couple singles, followed by a Casey Dana double to drive in 2 more runs. 4-3 UConn.

Tough night for viewing for UConn fans. Women bball, hockey and baseball all on now. Will mainly watch hockey.
