24th Woo!
We have chances to move up pretty quickly with games @LSU, UNC(at home) & Tennessee(at home). I believe this year to be the year we're finally going to get back on track.

Can't wait for the season to start! :)

According to ESPN.com, this marks the 10th time UConn has started the season #1, of which UConn won six NCs.

So what are four seasons in which UConn started #1 but didn't win the NC? 2011? 2001? Maybe 1996 and 1997? And what are three seasons in which UConn was not ranked #1 to start the season but went on to win the whole thing? 2003 for sure. 2013- definitely started at #2 behind Baylor. Maybe 2000 after the regional semis loss the season before? Oh wait- were we #2 in 1995 before the first Tennessee game?

From the AP story, UConn was preseason #1 in 1995, '99, 2000, '01, '03, '08, '09, '10 and '13. So, the years it won the NC without the preseason #1 ranking were '94-95, '02-03 and '12-13; UConn failed to win the NC despite the preseason #1 ranking in '95-96, 2000-01, '2010-11.

Tennessee plays South Carolina, Notre Dame, Texas, Kentucky, & Rutgers away, and Texas A&M, Stanford, Kentucky, & Oregon State at home.

Just for comparison, South Carolina is slated to play UConn, UT, Tx A&M, and Duke (top 7), and play UK twice in the season. Could most likely face Syracuse in the Junkaroo Jam tournament provided they get past ECU (they should be expected to)....

For more comparison.... Duke is @ UCONN, TAMU, NEBRASKA, home against South Carolina, and Kentucky. In ACC play... @ND, home and home vs UNC... home vs Syracuse and Louisville..... and then probably 2 of those teams in the ACC tourney. Only once in the last 20 years has Duke lost as many as ten games in a single season......... hopefully this isnt one of those years

I just read that this is the first time since 1981 that Georgia didn't make the AP's preseason 25.

Sorry. This cat may be condescending (aren't we all) but she doesn't fight.

I vote that when you consider changing your avatar, this picture should be considered.

Brylcream Landers has not been recruiting well in recent years and he isn't as involved in the sidelines coaching, either. I sit within 10 feet of the visiting head coach at women's games so I get to see them coach within earshot.
