tabakman in to pitch. 123 my man lets go!

Offense continues to struggle. UMass pitcher had 3 innings on the year coming into the game, we get him for 2 in the first and haven't touch him since. When we have gotten the lead off runner on in a couple of innings we haven't been able to do anything with it. This would be a bad loss for them.
I guess I spoke to soon, what an inning for them, 9 runs. I like the future of our catcher position between DeBellis and David. Both look to be solid hitters.

I wonder if they'll throw Jolin to finish the game or if they'll let some other guys pick up the last couple of innings. I would think they'll try to give Feehan and Oberg the day off so they can be fully rested for BC

Tabakman in relief. I almost would have expected him to start today. I guess Dettmann has replaced him as the 4th or 5th starter?

Look like Tabakman has control issues he needs to work on.

Tabakman gets out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the 8th to preserve a 12-4 lead. 3 outs away from moving on to BC

RsFr LHP David Mahaney on the mound in the 9th for his first collegiate appearance. Good spot to get his feet wet.

Judging by that play, we could have easily had a double play, score is now 12-5 UConn.

Strikes out 2 in the 9th and yields (surprise!!) an unearned run. Not a bad showing especially after he got settled.

and the game is over!

Final score:
UConn 12
UMass 5

Next up is the Beagles of Boston College tomorrow at 3 PM.

It looked pretty iffy there for a while but in the end we got a lot of production from a lot of different people. The pitching was more or less outstanding when you factor out the unearned runs. Good win (or really avoiding what would have been a terrible loss).

If the errors don't stop, and the walks and caught stealings get reduced, it's hard seeing this team coming anywhere near the NCAAs.

the BE is so bad and our ooc is down hill from 2moro that just playing like this puts us in a bubble spot. if they can tighten things up in the field and stop running in bad spots then we have a shot.

they are 15-12 right now. rpi is just climbed into the top 100 and 2moros game is our last shot ooc for anything worth a lick(sorry uri).

-sju last year got in the ncaat as a 3 seed going (35-20)
-shu last year got in the ncaat as a 3 seed going (33-23)

last year wasn't a pretty year for the BE but UConn was able to rise and save the conf making a great run. were not last years team, i know that. but even on a bad year the league was able to do well in the ncaat. both sju and shu preformed well which left a good impression on the ncaa for the league. it tells me that a team or 2 from this league can gets 3 seeds again at alarge if the record is there.

This is a bubble team. if they get hot, watch out we could get a atlarge bid. if we make some noise in the BET, were in. 35 wins gets you a bid imho. considering what i did abover here, were pretty dam close.

Don't disagree with the overall point, but SHU wouldn't have gotten in without winning the tournament.

Damn these game threads are getting long.

Seton Hall wouldn't have gotten in if they didn't whoop us in the Big East tournament, but they played very well in the NCAA's as I recall. I believe they beat Arizona 4-0. Onto BC.

Future looks quite bright for UConn. It was only UMass, but 4 frosh position players and 3 frosh pitchers beat UMass yesterday.
