Looked around but didn't see an off topic board that really fits, and since this is (mainly about) the UConn men trading cards, figured I'd post it here. If a mod wants to move it to another forum they feel fits the topic better, by all means go ahead. But for UConn related trading card discussion, hop on in!

I collected sports cards back when I was a kid in the early 90s, and recently got back into HR hobby. Licensed college cards only recently came back, so I dove in last year. My mission is to complete the Solomon Ball rainbow set (collecting all alternate versions of a player's base card) for 2023/24 Bowman University Best Basketball. I've gotten most of the easier to get cards, but the rarer copied obviously have been harder to get. There is also a 1 out of 1 "superfractor" out there somewhere for Ball but seems like it hasn't surfaced yet ...gonna be hard to get that one.

Hoped to complete the rainbow set before the season started (and Ball goes off) but not looking likely.:D

Also a few other cards of Castle I've gotten (and my holy grail card of Paige and Stephon).

BGS is risky if you are gonna sell those - if keeping for your own collection that is probably the min grade (8.5) you want.
Yeah, at a 8.5 it is probably a push as far as value goes (for selling) compared to ungraded. The Clingan is a 1 of 1, so the grade matters less for that card, but for the Paige/Steph card the 8.5 probably hurts it a little. Really thought both of these were candidates for at least 9.5s, but I guess for the Clingan there must have been some defect on the surface I didn't catch because I swore it was one of the most clean cards I'd ever seen in person.

Well to be fair it's Panini and we both know the quality of card that comes out of their packs.....

I can confirm thru Panini if you see an a Private Signing with a different numbering than /199 /99 /50 /25 /10 /5 /1 it is an SP. Really good SPs I've seen /15 but some alternate like /33 too. One knucklehead did an /66 on ebay but it was /99 and he had it upside down. Anyway hope this helps.

Huh, that's interesting and also weird. I have a Sanogo /32 which....the heck?? Lol

Sanogo is an SP on their checklist I think. It would be for Paige or Alex types but also my Sue Bird /15

Saw this beauty on eBay. Love they made a card with his Cling Kong nickname in mind. Card a bit too rich for my blood though (at over $700 with 10+ hours to go in the auction).

That’s a case hit

Was excited to add a number match Sarah Strong to the collection.

Forgive the terrible picture, it’s tough to get a clear picture of the silver numbering on the silver background.

I managed to find a few different parallels of this particular Liam McNeeley card from Bowman Chrome (somewhat by accident, but that’s a different story).

I noticed that on most copies he’s wearing number 33, but on the stealth auto (middle of the page in the picture) it’s 30. I’m pretty sure he wore 30 during his whole time in Storrs and that’s what would have been in the original photo. He now wears 33 for Charlotte, but they couldn’t have known that at the time the base Bowman Chrome card was designed. Why would they have changed the number for one parallel version in the set but not the others? Why change at all?

Found this somewhat interesting. Does anyone know what’s going on with his number on this card?

Dragging this old thread to the top because I just pulled my lowest number card ever and now can’t top that metric.

I was going thru my UConn NIL cards again, and realized that my numbered Azzi auto was probably worth more to a buyer than to me. Decided to sell when I saw similar cards selling for upwards of $200, and it ended up going for close to $300 which blew me away.

Decided to be a degenerate and use a hundo to buy another box and see what happens…. What happened was a Solo auto /50, a base Sarah Strong auto which I was thrilled to see, and then I hit a card with a beautiful 1 of 1 on the back and Sarah Strongs name. Feeling like I should stop opening packs now, it’s all downhill from here!

Picked up this really cool number match /50, on-card auto Liam McNeeley from the new Topps Chrome.

Topps/Fanatics has gone a bit crazy with the prices for sealed product compared to Panini, but I do appreciate they seem to have a lot more on-card autos. This definitely would have been a sticker in Prizm.

Got a green /5 Diarra college ticket so moved that into the best of and took the /50 for the red set.

4 cards left.

Happy to trade if we find mutual interest. I have plenty of red/blue/golds maybe even a green.
