UConn to play Michigan State in exhibition

Is this a "secret" scrimmage since they're already playing BC in that charity game at Mohegan?
Exactly. What makes it "atypical"?

Virginia was the usual "better" opponent in "secret scrimmages" for a while and they won a title far, far, far more recently than MSU. So it isn't the quality of the opponent.

Played in front of a crowd and on TV against URI last year and BCU this year, so it wouldn't be lack of secrecy.

We're too classy to be wasting our time with Sparty.

Perhaps a product of the new era of raising the collective. I’m all for it. The tomato can games are generally worthless other than falsely stocking the metrics up a bit. Could also be a good way to get the team up to speed with real national competition given the majority of the BE is gonna suck this year.

Any idea on venue? Normally these are relatively local and a middle ground location like BC/mohegan but MSU quite a ways away…

Why do we even have exhibitions? Just play them regular season game. Same with BC.

The real answer is $$$$$

If these games continue to have a charity angle that's one thing, but if it's 50 bucks to watch guys give 20% effort, it's an absolute cash grab imo, which I guess shouldn't be surprising in this new NIL era

Ahhh, c’mon guys. Scrimmage or not, this is a fantastic pre-season game. It’s okay if we lose, both teams will experiment a bit, and both teams are scary in the post season. Let’s just be happy to have real competition early, when a loss wouldn’t count!

New players learning a new and complex system requires a lot of observation, tweaking (team/roster experiments) and too many questions pre-season to officially schedule this caliber of an oppenent upfront. Just saying the best time to beat us is at the beginning, so why risk an official loss when you are in discovery mode.

MSU will be the perfect baramoter for the staff to see who's ready and who needs more work. Winning is secondary.

This schedule keeps getting better. The whole iron sharpens iron thing, and the national attention that these games generate. Gotta be prepared to beat anybody and everybody. #7

Who cares? Waste of a basketball game .

Play in Rip's HS gym
Or Hershey Arena! My kid plays ice hockey there occasionally so I’m not sure if they melt down the ice for other events though. It’s where Wilt had his 100 point game. Doesn’t look like they’ve made any updates since then either…

Need money to pay the athletes. I'm thinking tickets and television
