That would be fantastic if true. It would be a great Veteran's Day announcement.

I did read that the Mich State men will play in the CC again in 2013. Maybe there will be a women's/men's doubleheader. The UConn men play Arizona in next year's CC.

Time to slow down on this. Rich Elliott contacted UConn about the report and it appears it's premature. There have been discussions, however. From Rich's blog:

"Despite a report that surfaced Thursday night UConn is not yet scheduled to compete in the Carrier Classic against Stanford in 2013, a UConn spokesman said today.

UConn is interested in competing in the event and there has been some discussion, but nothing has been remotely finalized. Also, the Huskies are currently scheduled to play Stanford that season at home."

More info from John A in his blog. Sounds like the organizers want UConn and UConn is very interested. How exciting would this be! (BTW, the first Carrier Classic is tonight with a men's game: UNC v Michigan State. The game is on ESPN and should be quite a scene. Tune in!)

This from John A:

"The national appeal of the UConn women's basketball program may soon take women's basketball to another stage its never been on before.

Two UConn sources confirmed Friday the Huskies have been approached by organizers of the Carrier Classic in San Diego about being a part of the 2013 event.

The sources say UConn's interest in participating in the event, which is staged on an aircraft carrier, as high. The event begins this season with a men's game.

Apparently, organizers of the event would like the UConn women to play Stanford in the game. The Huskies and Cardinal are involved in a long-term home-and-home series that continues Nov. 21 in Hartford.

The teams will play again Dec. 29, 2012 at Stanford, which means the 2013-14 meeting would be a UConn home game.

UConn sources say its not likely UConn would give up a home game to play in the event, but would consider flip-flopping home games with Stanford, meaning the Cardinal would host the Carrier Classic and UConn will host Stanford again in 2014-15.

Should the UConn women agree to play in San Diego in November 2013 it would give them an opportunity to schedule at least one other west coast game, perhaps against another Southern California team to give Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and Lauren Engeln of Laguna Hills, Calif., a homecoming game."

KML's high school teammate at Mater Dei, Jordan Adams, just comitted to USC, which is coached by former LA Lakers star and Los Angeles Sparks coach Michael Cooper.

As a UConn wbb fan, this is of course an exciting prospect. As a US navy vet as well, it is VERY exciting.
