UConn to play BC in Exhibition

BC is so entrenched in the ACC basement that this is more equating them with the Central Connecticuts and Hartfords of the UConn basketball universe versus putting them in a similar orbit with the Huskies.

Sure, we will schedule a game with them as they are a periphery team that could draw a few thousand playing at Mohegan, but not nearly worth a regular season game and not someone to play at a major arena.

Following the model we used last year playing Rhode Island, throwing the lesser New England schools a bone is a nice gesture by Hurley.
Hurley has a fondness for Rhody which is understandable. Plus even us old time fans never hated Rhody like we did UMass.
If we took a vote of the top 10 most hated schools . BC would probably be on it even though we haven’t played in years
We have a lot of negative history with that school. Hurley must be friends with their coach.

Maybe another sign that current BC administration is opening their mind to the fact that they need local rivals to grow their programs/finances. Maybe these become future conference matchups. At the least, we get to see Alex punk BC before moving on to the pros.

if it helps us mend any problems with BC/ACC, sure. But part of me knows this won’t come up in future conference realignment meetings, so I kinda wish we told them to kick rocks. Glad we have a game to look forward to though.

Play nice. Pissing people off won’t help us. Nothing to lose here, it isn’t even a real game.

It’s a great opportunity for AD Dave to buy a couple of people a nice steak and extoll the virtues of a competitive and contested New England sports market. We all know that getting back to the days when we all played each other and competed for the region is appealing. I loved playing BC back in the day. The northeast needs to get its mojo back and it is never going to happen if we don’t work together.

Both the Huskies’ men’s and women’s basketball teams will take the court in Uncasville for a Columbus Day (Oct. 13) Basketball Hall of Fame exhibition against Boston College, the school announced Wednesday. Game times, broadcast and ticket information will be available at a later date.

Alternate access:
UConn men’s and women’s hoops to meet Boston College for exhibition doubleheader at Mohegan Sun this fall

Hope we have a good crowd willing to boo BC right out of the building.

Plus keeping a good relationship with BC is important for football.

Tix for the game will be $25. You can use venmo or direct deposit to receive the funds from the athletic department.

They could have a future "Casino Shuffle" or "Hoops Roulette" tournament with UConn bcu pc and Umass
