Top 4th, Fedko with a 1 out single to drive in Stock who had a lead off double. UConn with a 2-1 lead and with 2 runners on base. Nothing more comes of it.

Let’s go Fedko! RBI single. Feels like he’s been hitting ropes with RISP for a whole decade now. Gonna really enjoy this last year for him.

Chris Jones has been talking about Erik Stock breaking a hamate bone in his hand three weeks ago, but is able to play tonight after an operation to remove the bone. A very quick comeback.

Bottom 4th, Peterson strikes out the side to give him 9 for the game. Peterson at 66 pitches. UConn with the 2-1 lead.

Chris Jones says Brendan O'Donnell is suspended for the first three weeks of the season due to violation of team rules.

Bottom 5th, 2 more strikeouts for Peterson after giving up a lead off single. Peterson strands runners on the corners. 2-1 UConn. Peterson at 88 pitches, so he is close to being done for the night. He has 11 strikeouts on the game.

Chudoba and Coe were warming up that inning.

Top 6th, Stock leads off the inning with his second hit of the game. UConn bats strand a runner at 2B. 2-1 Huskies.

.-.
Bottom 6th, Peterson takes the mound to start the inning. Have to think this will be his last inning. Chodoba is warming up.

Bottom 6th, strikeout, single, stolen base, strikeout. Petersen at 13 strikeouts, and he comes out of the game, Chudoba takes the mound with a runner at 2B with 2 outs.

First batter facing Chudoba reaches on an infield error by Smith to put runners on the corners. Second error of the night for the UConn infield (Brown had the other error earlier in the game). A double drives in two runs to give USF a 3-2 lead. A single gives USF a 4-2 lead. No earned runs this inning. Chudoba gives up a walk, then gets a strikeout to finally end the inning.

.-.
Back to back doubles for TC (his 2nd of the game) and Brown gets us one back

Bulls quickly back to the bullpen after that. Guess there’s no three batter minimum in the NCAA ;)

Top 7th, back to back no out doubles by Simmons and Brown bring in a run for UConn to make it 4-3 USF. Pitching change.

Guess this new pitcher is USF’s top reliever arm.

And wow, comes in throwing 96 a couple times. Wonder if they’ll try to ride him for the final 3 innings

Bottom 7th, Chudoba starts the inning on the mound for the Huskies with the game tied at 4.

.-.
Huber and Smith looking a bit impressed by the level of competition. i trust that they can acclimate over time though.

Lead off single, followed by a sac bunt moving the runner to second. Freshman Ian Cooke takes the mound for his UConn pitching debut. Cooke gets 2 strikeouts to end the 7th inning tied at 4. Nice debut for Cooke.

Wow, now that was a nice first sequence for Cook. Changeup to get ahead 0-1, a couple of good breaking balls in the dirt as the count got to 1-2, then a good 93mph fastball to get past Cantu’s slowed-down bat for the K. Then goes 0-2 on the next hitter! Let’s see if he can finish

Agree. Composure, stuff, control. Good stuff from Cooke.
