Nothing personal but that is such a weak mindset. I don't ever want to be that type of school. Not for nothing, that is exactly what Syracuse fans were saying in 2018 before and after our last game of the series at MSG in 2018. When we were stuck in the AAC. Having the same attitude as a Syracuse fan should give anyone pause and make one reexamine their life. We should play anyone at any time if it makes sense. Playing a long time Northeast rival that moves the needle fan base wise and media wise usually makes sense. Doesn't really matter what the respective team rankings are. That changes every year anyway. People have real short memories it seems. We were in the AAC and unranked playing a top 20 Syracuse team at the Garden the last time we played. "There but for the grace of god go I". indeed. This fanbase is really something else. We have back to back National titles, but seemingly can't fill home courts with our fans, and the excuse/reason/complaint being that it is a cupcake schedule and that there is no juice from the teams we are playing so then the thought of playing an old long time rival is tossed around, and that is not a good enough opponent now either. Amazing. While I enjoy seeing their lack of recent success there is still a hole in my heart. As a passive observer I'm delighted every time I see them on the short end of the stick. I think that hole in my heart can be filled by being an active participant in grinding that program back into the primordial ooze from whence it came.
