UConn - Syracuse MBB/WBB double-header under discussion?

MSG would make sense. Then we can show everyone that UConn is New York's college team and not Syracuse. Although they may have retired this below already.

It’s never a good idea to lower yourself but I would like to play them — basically the same as playing Sacred Heart and Southwest Texas State.

It's the kind of thing where if this is replacing an a game v. UMES and still playing the big time games as part of home and homes then sure but if, using this season an example, if it replaces playing Gonzaga at MSG or Baylor at home or Texas away then it's a downgrade.

I assume next year specifically Autry will be on an very hot seat after they miss the tourney again this year, making it even more difficult to recruit in the offseason to avoid the inevitable departure.

I 100% agree on the scheduling. I think three tuneup games are fine, not including an exhibition. Games 4 and 5 can be against a (slightly) better teams like Cuse, Pitt, BC or whoever.

Also I think Autry will get the benefit of the doubt through next season. He's got 2 good recruits coming in next year including Kiyan Anthony.
 
I was always super excited to play Syracuse at MSG post-Big East, but I have kind of changed my mind. I don’t want to even give them that big of a stage against us, or provide them with a marquee matchup there. I’d prefer a home-and-home. That being said, I’d rather play them than the Le Moynes of the world, regardless of the place.
 
Replacing a buy game, I love it

Replacing a Texas or Gonzaga or B12 team, I hate it

We have repeatedly won National Championships since 1999 (6 in all). We have repeatedly distinguished ourselves as the dominant team in the United States in the last 25 years and especially in the last two years. We are bigger than "NY's team". Way bigger. That is not the title(s) or vision we are seeking.

No need to elevate the Syracuse above the muck they have fallen into by some meaningless game that means nothing by comparison of any real relevance.

I'd love to play Cuse if they got good again. A big time ranked v ranked at MSG versus a team you hate - that's awesome. But that is at minimum 1 coaching staff away.

Our football program needs them and their basketball program needs us. If you’re their AD and you’re (reasonably) smart, this is their negotiating position.
 
Too many arrogant fans. No surprise I guess. Every school has them. Playing them would be a good idea regardless of where they are. And good for football , although I know 50 (or more) percent of people on here dont care about that.

We win, we should win. We lose, it’s an embarrassment.

Why should we be helping pull the Syracuse basketball program out of irrelevance? They’re basically a mid major at this point. If they want to play us, they need to come play us at Gampel during our cupcake schedule, anything other than that is a hard pass.
