Update from Geno Auriemma on his couple injured players from the team’s summer session:
Morgan Cheli (foot) - not back on the floor yet
Ayanna Patterson (shoulder) - back to full go
He also notes that Caroline Ducharme “looks really really really good”

Edit: Please note Geno used really 3 times... ;)

In the second and a half clip we could see, she did look really good, but hearing this from Geno actually made me feel a little emotional this morning. I am soooo happy for Carol!!! This is tremendous news!

Geno in many interviews or pressers tends to use "really" three times in describing something. It's amusing and really pretty admirable because it shows not only his enthusiasm but his positive outlook. Not a bad formula to have for a winning (the "winningest") coach. Any wonder why so many of his players who have been fortunate to be coached by him say that Geno is more than a coach? He is a forever booster who will always have their back. The many players and we Husky fans have been immensely lucky.

More of the same from Emily Adams:

The news about Caroline is exciting. I have zero expectations and boatloads of hope that she can complete the arc that she was expected to be on at the start. Ann Strother or Maddie Siegrist type contributions were in the offing at the beginning and then that sad injury condition that seemed endless. If she can complete this comback it would be amazing and wonderful.

Pulling for Caroline HARD!!

Sorry to be the Debbie Downer here. (but someone's got to do it)

If you watch the video, the "really, really, really good" was more a as compared to where she's been, and what he was expecting. Not like she's back to her old self and has improved.

He also said that she couldn't go more than 7-8 minutes.

I think it's more of a hopeful "really, really, really good". That there's a chance she might be able to play some this next season. He kind of hinted he didn't think she'd ever get back, so getting her back even for a little bit would be fantastic.

He also did mention that she is the leader off court. (which I assumed was gonna be the case)

Anything we can get out of her this season, I'll consider it a bonus.

We do need a hybrid guard/forward who can bang inside, rebound, and score some to support Sarah and Serah. Caroline at her best could do all three. You may recall that at one time she carried the team when others were injured. Now her old position is available for someone, perhaps Morgan, Blanca, even Ice. Geno's good problem is sorting out which combo is best. Poor guy.

You are extrapolating several things from the video that weren't actually said or even implied.

Geno simply explains to the reporters that Caroline isn't ready to play 30 minutes YET, but that she is giving 6, 7, 8 minutes at a time comparable to when she was the best player on the team as a freshman. So, contrary to how you've put it, there was nothing negative meant or implied with his statement! On a natural progression, she most likely could be capable of giving 12-16 minutes by the start of the season, and perhaps 24-32 minutes by mid-February. There aren't many (if any) that will be asked or required to give more.

He also did NOT say that Caroline is a leader off court. The words "off court" never came out of his mouth! He said that she is a leader and that her voice is the loudest out there.

So Debbie ;), next time you want to play the "Downer" roll, you might want to listen more carefully to what is actually being said.

I don't know that banging inside is a great idea for Ducharme.
