According to Carl Adamec, Geno was not yet 39 years old the last time UConn lost two games in a row. Last night, the Huskies lost their 2nd game in row for the first time since March 17, 1993. That is just short of 30 years. UConn fans have a choice, blame the players & coaches OR celebrate the fact that Asst. Coach Jamelle Elliott was a freshman, playing for Geno, the last time there were two losses back to back. Consider the good stats from these two games and please understand these loses mean NOTHING in the long run and EVERYTHING for preparing the Huskies for BE tournament and the NCAA tournament. Learn and improve...

Consider:
1. Nika played 80 minutes out of 80 minutes in the two games and made a 3 pt basket in that 80th minute.
2. Aaliyah scored 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Oh, and she played 66 minutes in 2 games.
3. Aubrey, recovering from back surgery, played 77 minutes out of 80 and scored 29 pts & shot 53% from the field.
4. Dorka also played 77 minutes & had a total 20 pts, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks.
5. Lou endured a human pinball treatment during her 75 minutes and still scored 31 pts.
6. In the 2 games, opponents only shot 38% from the field and missed 79 shots.
7. UConn scored 74 points in the paint. Two talented 3 pt shooters are on their way to help.

Besides playing many minutes, these five have in common a tremendous heart and competitive fire. It pushed them beyond their physical & mental limits and should be recognized.
Congrats to the magnificent five..!!

Bring on Georgetown..!!

As I said in another post, this team has played their hearts and souls out in every game. Yes they have lost 4 games, with two losses back to back for the first time since 1993. Over the past seven games the starting five has played all but 125 minutes out of a possible 1,400 minutes. That is something that is rarely seen in either the men's or women's college basketball. Below is what each of the starting five is averaging in minutes per game over the last 7 games.

Nika is averaging 38+ minutes per game with 267 minutes. Starting with the Butler game through the Marquette game she played 33, 36, 40, 40, 39, 39, 40. If you take out the first two games, Butler and DePaul she averaged 39.6 minutes over the last 5 games.

Aubrey is averaging 37+ minutes per game with 267 minutes. playing, 39, 37, 36, 36, 36, 40, and 37 minutes. It is the same average for the last 5 games.

Dorka is averaging 36+ minutes per game with 256 minutes, playing 33, 30, 38, 40, 38, 38, and 39 minutes. In the last 5 games she averaged 38.6 minutes.

Lou is averaging 34+ minutes per game with 241 minutes, playing 27, 29, 37, 38, 34, 40, and 36 minutes. In the last 5 games she averaged 37 minutes.

Aaliyah is averaging 33+ minutes per game with 233 minutes, playing 36, 26, 38, 40, 26, 29, and 38.
In the last 5 games she averaged 34.2 minutes.

Maybe it is just me, but all of these post about the "World Not Ending" and the "Sun still rose" are very condescending. People should be allowed to feel the way they want. Hopefully no one is going to b---- and complain and make excuses, and if they are real fans they will support this team unconditionally. But these post, while meant to be positive are actually doing the opposite. People are trying to make excuses... look at how much time this person played, and look at this and that.... why? It was a loss, be sad... be angry... but support the team and believe in them, that the next game will be better.

If we won the next 100 games would we need to post that the "World was not ending" when we win the 101st game?

Where did I say fans couldn't feel anyway they wish? I even said they have a choice... It is ironic you feel everyone should be able to feel how they want, but Visitingcock, MSGRET and I are "very condescending" for our opinions. 30 years between back to back loses is a great accomplishment. Especially, playing with so many players hurt. Sorry you don't understand our point.

Go Huskies..!!

I had barely begun following the young women of UConn when they last lost back to back games. My thought is that since March of 1993 until last night UConn fans never had a losing streak greater than ONE. We've been dealt a tough hand with the people on the bench 2 who are done and 2 who are hopeful. I think we have a good chance to go deep into the NCAA with Caroline and Azzi back and getting a 12th title would be very satisfying for all.

So it’s the fault of Geno, CD, or Jamelle, because they were the only ones around for both. ;^)
