UConn stats....Paige 2.0...

I doubt any fan of the Huskies would be surprised to learn Paige leads the team in scoring with 178 points. What about the lesser known statistical categories? Paige can't do everything, right? Here we go:

1. Blocked shots - Well, actually Paige is tied for the lead with 9 blocked shots w/ Aubrey.
2. Steals - Gotta be Nika or KK in the lead, right? Nope, Paige leads with 18. KK and Aaliyah are 2nd with 16.
3. Made Free Throws - Paige #1 again, with 32. Aubrey is 2nd with 21 and Liya is 3rd at 20.
4. Made Field Goals - Paige with 65 is first, yet again... Aaliyah is close at 61 made baskets.
5. Made 3 point baskets - Paige at 16. Q is 2nd at 11, Nika third at 10.
6. Minutes played - Nika is tops at 288 minutes. Paige is 3rd at 258. Wait, that means Paige is leading in all those stats without playing the most minutes...? Wow..!

Paige 2.0 is amazing & apparently she is still recovering. Hang in there Husky fans, the best is still to come.

Actually, it is not surprising that the woman who averaged five steals per game in high school and led UConn in steals her freshman year should be leading in that category again.

I calculated ( a few days ago ) some, let us say " unusual" stat numbers:
Minutes played / per foul: KK 231 minutes/ 22 fouls = 10.5 minutes per foul # 6,
Aaliyah 278 minutes / 25 fouls = 11.12 minutes per foul # 5, Nika 287/ 23 = 12.4
minutes per foul #4, Paige 260 minutes / 18 fouls = 14. 4 minutes per foul #3 ,
Ashlynn 149 minutes / 8 fouls = 18.62 minutes per foul # 2 and then there is # 1!!!
Aubrey 209 minutes / 6 fouls = an incredible 34. 8 minutes between each foul!!
Not to bore you, but one more: Minutes played per turnover: Aaliyah 278 / 26 t.o. =
one T.O. every 10.6 minutes # 5, tied for # 4 KK 231 minutes / 17 t.o. = one
every 13.5 minutes and Nika 287 minutes / 22 t.o. = every 13 minutes, Paige 261 minutes
/ 15 t.o = one every 17.4 minutes # 3, Aubrey 209 minutes / 11 t.o. =one every
19 minutes , # 2 and , surprise, Ashlynn Shade 149 minutes / 5 turnover = one turnover
per 29.8 minutes of playing time!! Kudos to Aubrey and Ash!! Stats " out of context"
may not be perfectly significant, etc. But somewhat interesting and , for sure, surprising!

Q is second having made 1 three point shot every 11.99 minutes played thus far.

may not be perfectly significant, etc. But somewhat interesting and , for sure, surprising!

I realize that the turnover per minutes is bias by the amount of time each
player "controls" the ball, i.e. the PG's ball handling done by KK and Nika. Also, in that same
vein, that Ashlynn is mostly a " catch and shoot " type of player, with only some driving for
her intermediate jumpers. However, with Aubrey, when she " catches"
she goes " driving into traffic", with few miscues, and plenty of "scoring through contact'.
It must be nice to have big hands!
So, how about assist to turnover ratios?: Here you are: Nika 1.72, # 1, KK 1.70, # 2, Paige 1.6, #3
Ash 1.4, # 4, ICE ! 1.25. # 5 (surprise!), and Aubrey 1.0, # 6

I think that she played without the brace on her left thumb for the first time vs UNC.

But remember a small sample size, number of attempts, can make for strange
results. I remember looking for NCAA WBB stats, early in the year, and they
didn't publish any until they had some sort of "repesentative" sample size to
account for some very " hot" shooting , or other statistic in the first few games.
All things being equal , I agree = Q does have a very, very good "EYE".
