With a week to rest before Saturday's Sweet Sixteen game against Duke, Nika, Paige and Liya can relax & enjoy moving up in the Huskies record books.

1. Nika - With 5 assists, Nika is alone in first place in career assists with 663.
Muhl also holds the record for assists in a season (284) and the highest game for assists (15).

2. Aaliyah - Liya moved into 16th place all-time in scoring for UConn with 1,808 points. She is also 1 rebound away from 1,000 boards. Currently, she is 9th all-time with Gabby up next in the rebound chase. Aaliyah would join the 1,000 points/ 1,000 rebound cub with that next rebound.

3. Paige - Paige's 32 points against Syracuse moved her to #23 in UConn career scoring. She has 1,614 points. Barb Turner is next for Paige to pass with 1,629 pts.

Congrats to these three Seniors and all the Huskies..!!
Go Huskies..!!

Nika is also in 3rd place for most assists in a season (230 and counting in 2023-24). Sue Bird is in 2nd place (231 in 2001-02). As noted above, Nika already holds 1st place with 284 in 2022-23. Amazing that she's only 2 assists away from having the top 2 spots on that very impressive list of single season accomplishments.

From another thread started by DavidinNaples which was written before the 2 NCAA tournament games:
“Paige is also currently sitting on the 8th place in Single season scoring with 725
7th Maya Moore 736 (2010)
6th KLS with 747 (2017)
4th Maya Moore 754 (2009)
4th Napheesa Collier 754 (2017)
3rd Breanna Stewart 777 (2014)
2nd Napheesa Collier 792 (2019)
1st Maya Moore 868 (2011)”

With 28 and 32 points in the tournament Paige now has 785 points, the 3rd best single season scoring in UConn history. She will move past Phee into second place in the next game against Duke.
If 3 more games Paige will pass Maya if she averages 28 ppg. If UConn and Paige have a terrific run and make the finals it will take 21 ppg for Paige to pass Maya for the greatest single season scoring. Let’s go UConn and Paige. We know you can do it !

Nika's 8 assists against Duke put her at 671 career assists and 238 for the season.(and counting). She now has the two highest single season assist records. Here's hoping for another double digit assist game against USC to make it an even 18 for her career!

Nika owns all 3 assist records:

1. Single-game, passing Paige

2. Single-season (top 2 seasons), passing Sue Bird

3. Career, passing Moriah Jefferson

Those other players combined for 6 Lieberman Awards.

What I find most amazing about Nika becoming the all time assists leader is that she entered her junior year with all of 149 assists. She went from averaging 74.5 assists her first two seasons to averaging 265 assists her last two seasons. Simply incredible.

She took responsabilies when Paige was out, and since then have been over expectations. And Paige can play 1 to 4 this season, so Nika stay at her natural position(the 1).

Nika finishes her career virtually atop every UConn wcbb assist category. Her 686 career assists surpass the previous record holder, Moriah Jefferson by 27 assists. Nika did that in 131 games, 24 fewer than Moriah's 155 game career. She is the all-time career assist/game leader at 5.24 (surpassing previous leader, Jill Brumbaugh (5.06 1884-88). Her career assist percentage of 26.6 is also the record in that category. She has had the most double digit assist games (17), is the only player to have four (4) back to back double digit asset games and of players that have thirteen or more assists in a game she is peerless at five (5), four other players have one each. She also holds the record for most assists in a game at fifteen (15).

In terms of single season assist records, she sits at the top two seasons (284 in 22-23 and 253 in 23-24) surpassing Sue Bird's 21 year standing record of 231. She is the leader in assist percentage 32.9 (2022-23) also holding third place 29.6 (2023-24) just being Diane Taurasi's mark of 29.7 (2003-04). She has the highest assist/per game rate of 7.9 (2022-23) and also the second highest at 6.5 (2023-24).

Nika holds the record for both single season total minutes and min/g at 36.6 (2022-23) and led her team in both categories her junior and senior seasons. She was named the BE DPOY twice (2021-22 & 2022-23). She finished her senior season having the most career starts of anyone on the roster and as the recognized floor general on both offense and defense as acknowledged by her coach and teammates.

I think it is safe to say that there has been no more impactful UConn player, unquestionably so during her junior and senior seasons, that will not be on the wall of honor. It is rather fitting that that would be the case for Nika as she has always contended that she has never been the star of her team at any level but she has always worked her butt off to be the best teammate she can possibly be doing all the little things that make her team better. In her final pregame press conference (I believe) she referred to herself as a role player when she anticipated that those would be the ones whose contributions would be very impactful in the upcoming game against Iowa. It turns out there was no truer statement and what she did in that game was a fitting example of Nika Mühl at her best. As Geno alluded to in his final post game presser response, Nika had a special way of touching every single person in their program and as he has said numerous times in the past that she is simply unique. Not a bad college career for a kid from Croatia who started playing b-ball in middle school!
