After two lackluster victories, which saw the Huskies win by only 61 combined points ;), UConn heads to Memphis for another AAC road tussle. If you haven't already, please read Nan's great write up on the coming UConn/Memphis game. While we wait for tip off, here's some semi-interesting statistics for your pre-game pleasure:

1. So far this season, UConn has taken 900 shots from the field and 241 free throws. Those 1,141 attempts have resulted in 1,180 points.

2. UConn has made 100 three points shots. Hartley leads w/ 19, Chong has 18, Stewie has 15, KML 13 and Banks 12. Memphis has made 50 three's, w/ Ariel Hearn netting 29 of them.

3. TLAW has the 2nd best 3 point shooting percentage at 43% (6-14):). KML is first at 50% (13-26). As a team, UConn has made 34.5%.

4. Kiah Stokes has 102 rebounds, 80 points and 36 blocks in just 254 minutes of play. She is shooting 62% from the field and 82% from free throw line.

5. UConn has 159 turnovers and 167 fouls. Memphis has 229 turnovers and 265 fouls, in one less game!

6. UConn has 296 assists or 21.1 per game. Memphis has 148 assists or 11.4 per game.

7. Seven UConn players have more assists than turnovers, including all starters. :rolleyes:Only 1 Memphis player has more assists than turnovers.

8. Defensively, UConn has 134 steals, 116 blocked shots and has held opponents to 31.4% shooting from the field. The combined steal/block total is 18 per game.

9. MoJeff has 147 points, 63 assists, 33 steals, 38 rebounds and only 25 turnovers in 394 minutes of play. Edit - She also has 2 blocks, including a spectacular one against UCF..!!

10. The largest point deficit for UConn this season was 4 points against UCF. That lasted 20 seconds.

Go Huskies..!!

But #10 could be the beginning of a trend. Geno better watch out. (Someone else will have to do the rest of the lyrics.)

Ha..... when i saw the thread title i was thinking it was about the UCONN team meals while they were in Memphis.... and I was gonna post pics of some tasty dishes i had in Memphis this past summer.

Put on my blue suede shoes and
I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pouring rain

Then I'm walking in Memphis
I was walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel?

I saw the ghost of Elvis on Union Avenue
Followed him up to the gates of Graceland
Then I watched him walk right through

Walking in Memphis by Marc Cohn.......

David - had been humming this all morning....so I am not the only one!

Headed to Memphis to see my first LIVE UCONN women's game. Excited. We will eat our pre-game meal at Paulette's!

Well if you can.... you should eat your post game meal at Central BBQ

Those are all good. Thanks for the suggestions. I have eaten at all except Central BBQ. And no - lol - not planning the pre-game meal around the game. The meal is definitely second fiddle to getting to watch the women live!!

By the way, for those that missed it, Geno's Legacy with Tina Charles which first aired on New Year's Day will be shown 2-2:30 PM before the pre-game show.

Great stats. But you are leaving out my favorite individual stat..... number of blocked shots by MoJeff. She had a great one against UCF where she chased the guard down after a steal and blocked her lay up.... with authority I might add. She is tied for sixth in blocked shots on the team with 2. Go MoJeff!!

71 TO GO
