UConn crushed Tulsa by 64 pts as Stewie had another double-double. Almost all the stats were EVEN better than you think.

1. MoJeff had 2 more threes and 4 buckets inside the arc.
2. Gabby had 4 steals and 8 rebounds.
3. Stewie went 6-6 from the free throw line & bagged 8 defensive rebounds.
4. Tulsa made only 10 baskets.
5. Napheesa grabbed 8 boards & scored 12 points.
6. Katie Lou scored 14 points.
7. UConn made 14 of 16 free throws.
8. UConn had 18 assists & led by 24 after the first period.
9. Stewie scored 24 points & passed 1,000 career rebounds.
10. Uconn'so winning streak is now 56 games.

Go Huskies..!!

Left out a few numbers:
Not quite in the right sequence but Uconn defense was stuck on their multiplication table 1x3 =3, 3x3 =9, 4x3 =12 , 2x3 =6 and the total comes to 30 points in four quarters! :)
And also on there simple counting numbers (again not quite in sequence, but they are mostly underclassmen and not ready for advanced math techniques) 1,3,4,2 = 10 made field goals. :)
And of course the got the sequence correct on their FT defense and their 2 times tables - 1x2 = 2, 2x2 = 4 and the total comes out to six free throws made for two halves :)

And on the January Mo tracker - her shooting percentage back up to .574, and her 3 point percentage has now risen almost 100 points to .415 - watch out Sue - she just missed your record by 1 point last year and she is feeling it now!

11. UConn now leads ALL DI WCBB in Free Throw shooting at 78.9%. Is this the first time this has happened at any time in a season? WOW. Gabby Williams was the one big drag on free throws last year, but this year, with her hard work in summer, is now over 70%

We can thank Napheesa for that.

It seemed like they were trying to get Collier, KLS, and Butler a lot of minutes. Those guys are still new and very much in learning mode. The light has seemingly come on for Gabby, and she seems to be efficient with her minutes, much in the same way Stewie is with hers. They need to run as much Chong-Kia-KLS-Gabby line ups as much as possible in garbage time as that is 4 of next year's most probable starters. Losing Stewie and Mo is going to be huge.

Milestone watch: After dishing out 3 assists in last nights game, Moriah Jefferson is 97 assists away from passing Diana Taurasi for most career assists in UCONN history. Currently, Mo sits at 552 while DTs record rests at 648. Predicting the Huskies will reach the championship game, Mo will need to average 4.8 assists/game. She is currently averaging 5.4 assists/game.

And passing into the low post to Stewie, Morgan, or Gabby is almost an automatic assist.

I saw a quote by Geno when asked about the FT% being so good - he said basically that they haven't done any more or less than usual, but he specifically mentioned Gabby (who has seen a tremendous rise in her FT%) and that her big improvement over last year has helped the over all shooting %'s.

Geno is very astute!

How's the snow in Naples, Dave? By the way, it's Tierney's jumping up and down celebratory antics that the starters were imitating when Lawlor was on the court at the end of the Tulsa game. Pumping fists and raising knees to chests is how Tierney does it. It's very funny. Oh, and after the jumping, there's punching the air. Looks like Popeye on weed. And try to make your posts more up-beat, please.

Just a few more numbers to note after last night:
1. MOV has now crept above the 40 point mark again this year - currently 40.4 (#1)
2. Scoring average is now up to 90.0 territory we have not been to this late in a season for a long time. (#1)
3. Opponent shooting percentage is now down to .334 (#6)
4. Opponent scoring is now down below 50 at 49.6 (#2)
5. Three point defense is still high but has been coming down steadily at .325 (#244!)

Well, this is certainly not an ODD post.

I think last night's game moved them from about 5th in the nation in points allowed to 2nd. They lead the nation in scoring.

-from DavidinNaples: "10. UConn's winning streak is now 56 games." IT WAS INEVITABLE, David...

As our resident numerologist, I can't believe you missed the obvious Nostradamus-like predictive roster mathematics:

Saniya (12) + Napheesa (24) + Briana (2) + Moriah (4) + Kia (11) + Morgan (3) = 56 !

Here's a couple of adds to Stewie's performance last night. Her 2300th point, 350th assist, and 350th block.
So her exclusive club (high thresholds on assists AND blocks) just became harder to match.
