Very hard to be happy after today's news about Azzi being out for the season. But the remaining players need support and excited fans.
So here are 7 reasons to try to be happy and cheer for the Huskies this Friday & Saturday in the Cayman's tournament..!!

1. Qadence is 3rd on the team in scoring with 31 points..! She was not even the most heralded freshman.
2. After giving up 92 points to NC State, UConn defense held the next two opponents to 92 points combined..!
3. Nika has an assist-to-turnover ratio of 6.33 (19 assists vs 3 to's).
4. Paige leads the team in defensive rebounds with 22. Aubrey leads with 11 o-boards. Aaliyah has the most overall with 28 total.
5. With Azzi out, there are still nine players averaging 12 or more minutes per game.
6. Nika, KK, Ice and Q are all shooting 40% or better from 3 pt range.
7. Opponents have missed 66% of shots taken and hit only 27.4% from three range.

They say what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. I hope so...

With the freshmen playing significant minutes. The four have 7 TOS combined in 226 total minutes

Continuing with the theme of the four freshmen...
Combined they have 13 steals and only 7 turnovers.
They also have 17 fouls in 226 minutes, broken down this way: Q, 4; KK, 8; Shade, 2; Ice, 3. Per 40 min, that's Q, 2.96; KK 3.90; Shade, 1.8; Ice, 2.55. Pretty good for freshmen, especially Shade who is aggressive on defense.
Back to turnovers, Nika has only 3 TOs in 117 minutes against 19 assists for a 6.49 TO/Asst ration and .97 TO per 40 min. Now that's gaudy.
Edwards continues to travel for offensive turnovers and Paige has 9 TOs in her 113 minutes. Paige will surely get those numbers down, and Edwards as well. Ball control issues, which plagued the team last year, seem to be trending in the right direction.
