Now that signing day has come and the recruiting services did their new rankings a couple of our guys got slight bumps. UConn now has three 5 stars and one 4 star. On paper this is the best recruiting class UConn has ever had.

Darius Adams- #18 composite 5 star
#22 247
Braylon Mullins- #20 composite 5 star
#16 247
Eric Reibe- #25 composite 5 star
#27 247
Jacob Furphy- #118 composite 4 star
#93 247

We had JC the GOAT for 30 years, and now we have the next generation GOAT for as long he desires to coach. Combined with the best assistant coaches in the country.

I watched Uconn 2nd game of the year and I thought slow start but really solid game. After watching Hurley in the post game press conference, I would have thought they lost. And that's what makes him great. One of one in coaching currently.

I don't recall having 2 five stars in the same Uconn class. And we might have 3.

Reibe and Furphy are my favorite of the four and they’re the two lowest ranked. When’s the last time we had a stretch 5? I’m blanking. And some NBA scouts seem to be higher on Furphy than any of the 5*s

Furphy would be much higher if he was from the US - Intl guys get lowballed on ratings. Cannot wait to see how his Senior year goes though since that will be more telling than stats at the point of commitment.

Interestingly on 247 etc he is listed as a wing (small forward). On Australian websites for his stats he is listed as a shooting guard. Not incredibly important in Hurley's positionless system, but just sayin'.

This is truly an impressive class. Despite these three now being 5 stars, I don't think we project them as one and done players do we? Clearly Adams or Mullins could be fantastic and make the jump, but none of them are in the category where it's virtually certain, like with Liam McNeeley. I can't think of a better way to keep the program strong than with super talented multi-year players.

Probably not one and done, though a lot can change in the next 11 months before the season starts. But Hurley has publicly said these are all early entry NBA guys

Reibe has the best shot IMO. NBA is clamoring for his archetype.

I think Hurley believes Mullins and Reibe could be one and done. Hurley seems higher on Mullins than any recruit he's ever gotten.

Mullins 3pt shooting got better and better (like 47% of volume 3s this Summer) and he's got the height, and the bk IQ and can create his own shot. His D needs more work, but he has been quoted as having been on texts, calls, and facetimes with Hurley so I believe he 'wants to' better his defense to be a better all around player.

247 has rejiggled our "all time" commits given the new ratings..

1. Rudy Gay 2004
2. Stephon Castle 2023
3. Charlie Villanueva 2003
4. Andrew Bynum 2005
5. Liam McNeeley 2024
6. Kemba Walker 2008
7. Darius Adams 2025
8. Braylon Mullins 2025
9. Eric Reibe 2025

10. Daniel Hamilton 2014

Noting the year is the commit year, not the graduation date and these are all ratings at the point of committing to UConn using 247's Composite rating system.

I don't remember that. When did they say that? Nobody from the staff could comment on him until he signed his aid agreement. The only thing I remember from the staff about him is the press release, which has him listed as a "G" fwiw. Did Hurley talk about him another time? On a podcast or interview? Doesn't really matter though, I'm just curious to hear what Hurley said about him that I missed.

Jacob Furphy | Tasmania, Australia | NBA Global Academy | 6-6 | 210 | G

Before UConn: Preps at the NBA Global Academy…also has experience with the Australian National Team, most recently playing for the Australia U18 squad at the FIBA U18 Asia Cup…scored 16.8 points with 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game on 46.4 percent shooting from 3-point range to help Australia to a gold in that tournament.

Hurley on Furphy: "Furph's gonna be a fan favorite. He's going to be someone that UConn Nation is going to fall in love with. His toughness, his competitiveness, his skill and his mentality…he's a dog."

So coaches are allowed to speak to Storrs Central about a commitment before signing but not to any other media outlets? That seems strange.

Travis Knight I would argue was a stretch 5. not out to the 3 point line but certainly a very good mid-range shooter out to about 18’

Why are you definitely higher on him than the three 5 stars?
I love his Cam like game. I've watched a few games now, pretty much everything out there. I'm a BBIQ junkie, and what he has, can't really be taught. So it's the intangibles he has, just like AK. Will make eveyone better, make the right unselfish pass, hit the open three. My only apprehension would be athleticism on D, but as long as he doesn't have to play the opposing point, I think he will be ok.
