UConn Radio in 2021?

Did anyone else see this story in the Courant about Joe D. leaving WTIC in June once he contract is up? Really interested if he’d join iHeart to reclaim his mic for UConn ?? Not sure what Mike Crispino’s contract is like, or if he even has one. Would be great to get Joe D. back where he belongs calling Huskies Football again! I loved Joe D doing basketball and football for us even though he didn't always get it right. He was that unique voice/sound for UConn... Now, we look a bit lost in that category (too)...

I’m old. He called one of my high school soccer games back when he worked for WLIS. Time to move on.

He was a good announcer but his constant side stories were getting old to listen to. It was great when Uconn would score a touchdown. Other than that time to move on with new announcers. We’ll be starting in the Big East again and an independent in football so it’s time to let go of the past.

Joe D is probably of value right now. As we transition to being an independent in football and the Big East in basketball, Joe brings a certain familiarity. Good vibes from the old days when our teams were successful are needed. He is getting older and 5-10 more years with Joe is probably a good thing as we make this transition.

I'd be happy if there were an over the air station that carried UConn games in southeastern Connecticut. The Groton station that carried UConn games a couple of seasons ago did not carry any games last season, but oddly enough that Groton station is still listed as being a UConn sports affiliate on the UConn Athletics website.
