An Amateur Tryout (ATO) in the NHL/AHLSo does that mean he can come back ?? Or is he a pro now??
Thanks! An Amateur Tryout (ATO) in the NHL/AHL
allows amateur players, typically finishing college or junior hockey, to play for professional teams without losing amateur status. They are common late-season moves for development. While NHL ATOs are rarely used for skaters (only emergencies), players often sign ATOs with AHL affiliates (as in this case), acting as a "tryout" for future entry-level contracts. Skaters on ATOs generally receive no compensation.(via google)
Thanks!
