way too early for this to matter now, but one more top rated big and the class will easily finish 10, possibly top 5

Don't tempt me to post up another t-shirts for Africa meme.

Agree but not as early as those who proclaimed UConn is irrelevant in basketball.
UConn definetly relevant this year and for the forseeable future, but 80 of the top 100 for 2015 are uncommited. We are off to a great start with 2 in top 60....1 more and a should be a top 10 class.

How does one "bet" the mortgage?

Kentucky's days are numbered. Mark it down. The system is failing and Cal will either jump ship or he'll have to change tactics.
If you win, you take over the loser's mortgage. Fair deal if you ask me.

I really want to believe this. But the system produced an Elite 8, a Final Four, and a National Championship.

I don't think they're going to be National Championship caliber most years, but I think they'll be in the NCAAs and making some deeper runs than we would like. Last year will likely be an anomaly anomaly. But so will 2011-12.

The squid will eventually get caught doing something.

But last year they went NIT and this year they're hovering in the high teens, which implies 32 or 16 exit. The fans, knowing that the core of the team will be gone in 4 months, are not going to like the pattern. The NC was lightning in a bottle, with holdover upperclassmen. Time will tell.

Judging from my conversations with KY fans in Maui there are a lot of them that hate the current program of 1 and dones. That being said, that was before they won the national title so perhaps they have a different perspective now.

UK was supposed to have the best freshman class ever this year so a team with 5 losses already is embarrassing to that fanbase. Calipari himself was promoting that preseason 40-0 talk.

Their class next year will be by far their worst yet (absurd to think about with 4 McDonald all american's but 2 of those guys would never be McD players at Uconn). The UK recruiting bump is killer for them since it unfairly raises expectations. Additionally, there is quite a big difference between players ranked 1-5 and players ranked 15-40, especially when you are depending on them to be playing 30 mpg right out of the gate and UK doesn't have a Cousins, Wall, Davis, Kidd Gilchrist type coming in. Booker, Lyles and Ulis are guys ranked in that Roscoe Smith, DD, Oriakhi, Omar Calhoun range. Good players, but not carrying any team as a freshman.

Maybe they will be in the running for a ship in 15-16 if Cal doesn't get sick of his fanbase before then, but he seems to be on tilt, as seen in his absurd comments last night that his UK team is the most under the microscope team in any sport ever (who is even talking about them this year anymore?). I wouldn't be surprised to see him gone to the NBA after this year or next.

I agree, I think he'll be looking to move to the League soon. It's really a remarkable (yet thoroughly just) fall from grace given the 2012 championship and the media pimping of Cal and the program (remember how the Cal model was supposed to be unstoppable circa October 2012?).

Fortunately for Kentucky, Cal-lite-lite-lite Billy Gillespie will probably be available to replace him. Or they could go with Cal-lite-lite, Mark Gottfried.

Uh...... How did a thread about our good news get railroaded to uk and the squid? How long will us fans keep peaking at dook and uk? It just cheapens our program.

Too bad we can't change thread titles anymore.

We are UConn dammit!!

Whole thread should be nuked anyway. 247 adjusted their rankings again and were back to #2.
