Sure looks like it. Maybe they can stream the basketball game at the stadium?

Still seems like a pretty poor scheduling move.

I dont think so....the basketball game will about 5:30pm EST on ESPN

The football game will be 8:00pm EST on ESPN 2

Crazy thought.

Open up the parking lots at 1000. Open the stadium gates at 5:00 and broadcast the bball game on the big screen.

Otherwise, get the WatchESPN app for your smart phone, buy an adapter cable to hook up your cell phone to a flat screen and get an inverter for your car. Then you can watch it at your tailgate.

Beat me to it. Put the hoops game on the jumbotron. That will solve the "late arrival problem.

But it opens up the "Our Jumbotron sucks" problem. lol.

Any tailgating event I've been to has enough people showing events on TV. To the extent that I have to believe it can't be that difficult to figure out.

Tailgate with basketball, and then head in to football. We did the reverse when the hoops team played in the Bahamas tourney last year. Quite simple really...

Both. Apparently I have SMU on the brain, i.e., expansion. Though any BB game played before January, for me, always takes a back seat to FB.

... and put the beer in the stadium @ happy hour prices :)

Um, whose call was it to schedule the Ramstein AFB game in the middle of a football Saturday, less than three hours before our own fb game? That's pretty weak imho, seeing as I don't remember that aircraft carrier game from last year being lost in the shuffle like this at all.

And yes we all can watch it on TVs at the tailgate, d/l the apps to see it on our phones, etc. - but the point is why should we have to? Again imho: one major UConn sporting event should NEVER be put in a position to troll another such event.

So, who pulled the trigger on this?...

Gotta be Hathaway...

The aircraft carrier game was on a Friday, just like this one, so it wasn't lost in the shuffle of college football that we would otherwise care about.

It's a made for tv event. This was ESPN's call, they have done games like this on Veteran's Day weekend for a few years now. Is it an inconvenience? Sure. However, it is also an honor for UConn to be selected to participate in a game like this particularly given the circumstances surrounding the basketball program this coming season.

Again ESPN trying to ignore or undermine UConn football.

Surely this was 100% ESPN's attempt to undermine UConn football and the fact that it's Veteran's Day weekend had nothing to do with it, nor that it's on a foreign US military base who doesn't exactly have ample time to be playing around with to have a basketball game played on their soil. Exactly, this was an attempt to undermine UConn football, and not actually the football, the tailgating.

Yep. When I see this happen to North Carolina or Kentucky, then I'm a believer.

Unbelievable.

ESPN is going to broadcast a UConn basketball game on national tv at 5 pm, followed by a UConn football game on national tv at 8 pm.

And this means they are trying to undermine UConn? They are going to broadcast consecutive UConn sporting events to a national audience and people are complaining??!! They're supposed to account for the tailgating??!! They're trolling a UConn event with.... a UConn event??? WT is wrong with people?

A portion of this fanbase is really ridiculous.

This post cannot be serious, right? No one is this delusional. If it serious I honestly feel bad for you that you have to go through life thinking in this manner.

Heaven forbid ESPN give us a prime time basketball and football game on the same day. They must really hate us..............

So, who pulled the trigger on this?...
1. This is on a FRIDAY, not a Saturday.
2. The timing of this very likely was dictated by the US Military, not ESPN. Friday night is the worst TV ratings time of the week for sports, so ESPN wouldn't be willingly putting games there for fun.
3. They don't overlap! When was the last time a college basketball game ran three hours?
4. We're getting TWO nationally televised games that night, one of which will garner a LOT of attention being the first basketball game played outside of the US, on a military base no less. Don't be surprised to see the President or some other high level dignitaries make an appearance, and you know ESPN will promote the living hell out of it, as they did last year for the Carrier Classic.

How anyone can look at this in a negative light is absolutely baffling to me.
