UConn MHOC 2025-26

Great piece focusing on Muszelik! Counting the two saves in the Saturday shoot out, he had an incredible .965 save percentage (84 of 87) at Alfond last weekend. Bottle that and break it out again this weekend!

-> Looking good

These four teams are in good shape to make the field, but they can't be complacent. A sloppy finish to the regular season would crank up the pressure come conference tournament time…

No. 12 UConn
Record:
17-7-4, 11-5-2 Hockey East

Key results: The Huskies took five of six points at Maine on Feb. 13 and 14, and beat Quinnipiac on Jan. 24, putting them in strong position to make the NCAA field. The rest of their schedule includes five games against top-four teams in Hockey East, so they must remain sharp.

Remaining schedule: at Boston College on Friday; vs. Boston College on Saturday; vs. UMass Feb. 27; at UMass Feb. 28; vs. New Hampshire March 5; at Providence March 7 <-

Remaining schedule. I feel like we need 3 of 4 here…a tall order. Thoughts? I’m not even looking ahead to the HE tourney yet.

Some interesting things from this Cavanaugh interview

-NPI bonus points for road wins was put in because the Big 10 was not playing road games and they were buying wins. It was an incentive for them to play road games.

-Cav believes the national tournament should be expanded to 20 teams. First 12 get a bye and 13-20 play play-in games. 2 regional sites

-Muszelik’s advisor called Cav and told him Muszelik was going to transfer and would he be interested. Cav called Mike Souza, the UNH coach, and asked what was going on. Souza said he’ll ask Muszelik. Souza called Cav back and said he was going to transfer.

-If a high profile player is in the portal, they already know where they are going.

-He has walked away from kids who were trying to create a bidding war.

-Cav has had to cut recruits loose since the CHL became open to the NCAA because the CHL is better than the recruits he had committed.

-UConn now over recruits

If we take care of business we're still in a good spot, but the wiggle room is basically down to nothing for our at large chances

The ultimate indignity would be UMass passing us for the last at-large spot. If we “host” them in the HE quarters, our crowd better be merciless.

Much as I hate BC, I'll root for them tonight. If we beat UNH and BC tops UMass (both in regulation), we will be guaranteed no worse than the 3 seed in the HE tourney, with a chance to pass BC on Saturday.
