UConn Men's Soccer - 2025

UC men at always-tough Seton Hall this Fri nite, Nov 7.., trying qualify for the only 4-team ( why only 4 teams ??? Crazy !) Big East tourney......
(That darn last-few minutes collapse vs not a great Nova team....... ! )....
Youtube has some GREAT, but crazy , blurry, and very choppy game videos of the 1981 UConn NCAA Champ men soccer season
....Like mediocre/bad home videos - very blurry, even with stills, breaks in filming, but great memories of 1980 season- Including the Storrs NCAA quarterfinal, "Final 8" LIU game I attended-- theres Elvis Comrie dribbling, the INCREDIBLE Killer, THE GREAT DEBRITO (😪 RIP SUPERSTAR!!) ...
Incredible, super-nostalgic (choppy !) scenes from old Gardner Dow, that 1982(?) overflow crowd on beautiful old wooden bleachers, that great, warm day... .--
--what nostalgia!!, vs the Juju Magic Alabama A&M'ers.....our fellow Dec '81 at Stanford NCAA finalists... The blurry and choppiness adds to feeling of it... being a dream--
That really happened?? Jimmy D'Orsaneo was real??? Backup-Jimmy's OT sudden death /golden Title-winning goal was REAL??? 8 million years ago.. ..?
There's hard-to-see fuzzy Charlie McSpirrit, in his #5 uniform....
is that unclear, shaky, blurry shot a #10 jersey....????? Eric ?? Myren???
Crazy great 1980 season "videos" like some kind of dream images,...crazy, choppy "bad" quality... but amazing....!

In the interest of owning my pessimism - if tonight matches the women’s performance in the semis - what does that do to our RPI? Aka is Seton Hall happier not playing as far as ncaa tourney at large is concerned?

I think that brings our RPI to top 12. Nothing to lose on Sunday

Ironic seeing I don’t even think they are ranked. They may actually host at this point even with a loss to Georgetown.

Congrats to Coach G and the team.
Started off slow in the 1st half but were aggressive in the 2nd and it paid off
Gtown is a good side and UConn will have it's hands full
Been 14 years since the last BE final for UConn - hopefully they will bring the hardware home.

I forgot what a low a bar college soccer is. My godson plays in the División de Honor Juvenil (age below 19 years old - godson 16 years old). Much higher level of play.
That's ok - many of us fans will be watching low bar soccer:mad:

Then how come Xavier Perez, who played in Barcelona’s youth academy, won basically every youth trophy in Spanish soccer over a 4 year period, and also played in the exact league you’re referencing, is often an unused sub for UConn?

Tough loss but much much more competitive game than when we played them in October. We got outshot 25 to 10 in that one, and it was 15 to 12 today.

We're going to need to be careful in the tournament about conceding back-to-back though. We allowed 2 goals within a minute and 42 seconds today, and a couple of our losses seem to have gone that way (Bryant springs to mind).

Also got screwed out of 2 potential penalty kicks. One for an obvious hand ball. The other for a trip in the box. Score was 0-0 in the 2nd half for both missed calls.
